My favorites have always been, the original and Amy's...

I've never heard Amy's. I have never been a fan so I've only heard like two songs by her.

First vocal version by King Pleasure, who wrote lyrics to James Moody's improvised solo. "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

The Chief Rocker Frankie Crocker (107.5 WBLS - NY) used to sign off to this song. I'm not sure which version he used. The Benson/Austin version is very nice. I didn't realized it was Pattie singing on it.

Loving all these versions. How many times was this song covered? lol I'm surprised Marvin never got a chance to do it.

Keep looking, Timmy. If anybody can find a version by him, you can...

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

That's a good question that I can't answer. Hundreds if not thousands. "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."
