Amazing version of a classic. You can clearly hear how GREAT Foster, Angie and Pat's harmonies are.
Can you imagine, what it would have sounded like, if Edmond sang it,( As originally intended). Foster, brings something new to it.
I know right? I think Leon initially wrote it around 1969, '70 or '71 for Edmund... in fact I can't imagine anyone else BESIDES Foster singing it nowadays but Edmund's version would've been fascinating.

Don't laugh, but I had NO IDEA that it was the Sylvers and Foster, who did this. I was familar with the sample, (from playing it on The Ledge), but did not put two and two together.

lol I'm not gonna laugh. The song was actually quite big but I guess you were too young to remember when it came out (not trying to show your age because you're ageless lol ) but yeah lol
i found this on you tube a while back, too. this song sounds as good today as it did when it was out, but the acapella and rearrangement brings it to an even deeper level. love it!!!

I didn't know it was a sample at the time Dr. Dre used it for D.O.C's It's Getting Funky but it was the livest track out at the time, quite frankly when NWA and their crew came out in 87, we know quite well now what happend to the music scene. The song on its own is a classic and it's quite a strong song for a young Foster when it was new. A Michael equivalent song is I want to Be where you are, it's just as full and funky as this.

That's as close to funky as Michael got in his solo Motown days save for some J5 songs ("Dancing Machine" in particular).

YES! Leon Sylvers III is a genius.

And sadly UNDERRATED! The whole family is. Anyhow, this tune never gets old! Its scary how modern it is. I love the Foster-Angie and Pat tandem as well here.
Yeap, his musical output back in the days was definitely 'trending'. Last time I recognized him was when he layed this remix on GLADYS KNIGHT'S single I WHO HAVE NOTHING, released sometime last month or so ... But, unfortunately, it's anything else but breath-takeing ....
