lol I listen to a lot more than that.

I'm partial to Crystal Kay for some reason. Her voice appeals to me. I love Hiraku Utada's voice, too. I can get into mindless stuff like Koda Kumi and BoA, too. BoA is cute. I'll eat her up. giggle

There's a very popular boy group, Super Junior, with 12 members. And there's a jpop girl group with 48 members. lol

I used to be heavily into Asian music (JPop, CPop and KPop), probably because I'm Asian myself, but over the past few years I've gradually stopped listening to it because honestly 90% of it is factory produced, image manufactured, substance lacking shit which is targeted towards teens who lap it all up because they don't know any better. And yes, that rant is targeted towards KPop.

Well they are more of a brand than musicians or performers anyway. I don't even think they take themselves seriously. And "targeted toward teens"? that may be but I heard they have massive middle age male fan base which is......a bit weird to me. I just feel bad for the girls because most of them are going to lose their contract with the record label as soon as they stop being popular. Or more like, as soon as they turn 25 sad I never understood this weird "girl group" fetish thing in Asia but it seems like it's been happening since the early 90's...

Anyway...they actually had really catchy songs during the 90's. And now of course they have to include auto tune and rap-verse in practically every song. But during 90's I think they had really lovely pop songs. A lot of them sounded like Bria and Mayte giggle And there's still decent music in Japan and Korea...they're just not as popular as these girl pop groups.

Come on the industry is fucked up. Groups such as TVXQ and BIGBANG are considered veterans. What the hell, they haven't even been around for ten years, how are they 'seniors'? The fans are also screwed up. For example, if an artist starts dating or gets married they lose fans. What kind of music is it where the fans are more interested in fucking their 'idol' than appreciating the actual music. And why are these bands called idol groups? What exactly are we supposed to be idolising about them? They absolutely do nothing at all, and some of them have little to no talent. Their record labels tell them what to wear, what songs to sing, etc. I just don't like how most of my friends/peers are into such shit music. It honestly makes me cringe and makes me die a little inside.

Very true. We have our manufactured artists but Korea and Japan take it to another level. But the difference is that at least they know that they're manufactured compared to artists here who are but try to act deep (lady gaga, Beyonce, etc.) I like it because it's fun, harmless pop music. Nothing to take seriously. lol

Or if they ever gain a pound they'll be criticized confused

It's just different culture. I agree the whole music industry is quite messed up. But there is still awesome music to listen to in Korea. U just gotta look for them.
