We basically are saying the same thing. Okay I am not saying Beyonce isnt vocally talented which really all her talent lies because she doesnt write or is innovative either or are you seriously implying that?

Im trying to understand because just because she is a better singer than Rihnna doesnt make her authentic, original, groundbreaking or innovative. She has used the same tricks Rihanna has the only difference is she has vocals which really aint all that special in itself.

Yes Beyonce can sing although her talent is far from authentic SIMILIAR to Rihanna while she does possess some singing talent its really nothing special about it. Her talent which primarily is just singing alone can be easily duplicated similiar to Rihanna.

But besides all that I agree with you and said the same thing previously lol

I disagree that her singing is not special. Its her unique singing style that got her noticed in the first place. That poly-scalic run thing she used to do in DC is what set her apart from other vocalists out at the time. As soon as you hear those runs, you knew it was Destiny's Child and you knew it was Beyonce. It gave her a uniqueness to go along with her proficiency.

I dislike most of her solo material but I like her voice. Her material is sub par.

And YES, they have used the same techniques to market Bey that they have used to market Rihanna.

The difference is someone with talent is at least worthy of being a pop star. The Rihannas and Britneys of pop are proof that marketing style over substance works. Rihanna has better tracks but can't sing worth shit. Hey, if that's what enertains you, far be it from me to say otherwise. I just don't "pretend" when it comes to music. I like some bullshit, too. I know when its bullshit and I'm not afraid to say it. I like Lil' Wayne's 6ft 7ft and I know damn well its bullshit. Its also simple and catchy, which is what I like about it. I would never try to call it brilliant. It is what it is.

Are you honestly implying Beyonce is a better singer than all the female singers in En Vogue, Monica, Toni or did you forget they were also apart of the 90's?

No that is your opinion.

While she is a better singer than Rihanna I would NEVER place Beyonce on a greatest singer of all time list or suggest that her singing style was something inventive or different or something that had not been done..(get the fuck outa here with that bullshit confused ) in the 90's especially when I can call out more female singers of the 90s that sing better than her.. Monica, Toni etc...

Also, I said that I dont like neither of their music, find them both to be overrated and nothing innovative about what they do but Rihanna music is not consistent with the same themes and sound which is why I understand her appeal and why she has manage to stay as popular as she has despite her being a weak vocalist. Her team changes her style musically and takes risks unlike Beyonce.

Just because I pointed this out doesnt me I find it entertaining. But like you admitted they both have used the same planning to get ahead, neither of them write or produce their own music, neither of them are innovative or original. So the only thing Beyonce has over Rihanna is her voice... thats about it. Ive admitted that both their music is bullshit and I have also admitted that Beyonce sings better than Rihanna but I be damn if I sit here and say she is a fantastic singer or one of the greatest singers of all time... thats bullshit especially when I can name a hell of alot better vocalist in her era bracket AND just in general!

If like you said pop is just pop than that is what it is and I agree but you making a comment that Beyonce had a singing style that had NEVER been done before implies something BEYOND just pop and implies a artistic contribution which is not accurrate.

So if yelling, screaming, oversinging, zero emotion being conveyed and an normal octave range entertains you than so be it... Ill take my chances with Chrisette Michelle, Jill Scott or Marsha who not only are better singers but make much better music.

And I dont pretend either when it comes to music because music is not just about how good you sing especially when accolades are suggesting you are doing more or above just a singer which the media does with overrated Beyonce.

I agree. Back in the late '90s, no one in R&B was doing what Beyonce was doing. No one. She was great vocally in her early years with Destiny's Child (1997-1999). I should've put her in the list of best child singers because she was 15 (not even 16 yet) when "No No No" came out.

eek

DC songs way better than solo Beyonce HOWEVER

She sounds exactly the same as she did when that record came out not to mention that record isnt a spetacular vocal performance... Are you feeling okay? BEST child performance ever? Hun what the hell are you smoking? neutral

Ill take Tiffany Evans Let Be Your Angel over that mess and she was 11/12 when she sung it..

and this is all with l.o.v.e. lol

OKAY its time for me to leave before all the beyonce fans go postal on me ...lol

Beyonce is talented. There is no denying that. She is a pop star who has been overexposed.

Rihanna's career pacing has been better but she sucks. She has a medicore voice, can't dance and doesn't write songs. She is another example of the reason why so many no-talents delude themselves into believing they have "star quality" and go on these lame reality shows "So you think you can sing" or whatever and embarrass themselves. Its because the pop music industry has been redesigned (for years now) to be primarily image-driven. Because there is a team of PR and image consultants re-inventing their mannequin Rihanna every record, its easy to pump promotional dollars into her career and convince tweens to buy her merchandise. They have sewn that game up a long time ago. Rihanna is proof that their "system" works. Its like a pop star kit.

Rihanna = Madonna as far as that description goes.

Not even close. Unlike Rihanna, Madonna has never been anyone's puppet.

lmfao. Yeah Right. Beyonce was NOT that good vocally when she was younger. Those sloppy ass runs she was doing was a mess. Especially live.

She didn't become a vocal beast until DC's survivor era.And that was because all of the amount of vocal training she had went through. Nobody was thinking about Beyonce's voice in the 90's.

LMAO... with this post you gave prince.org more credibility because I gotta kinda scared for a moment.

Not to long ago somebody had posted a video of Beyonce with her group before they hit fame at the age of like 12/13... they were on some show like Star Search or something but clearly in the video you see just how mediocre a performer she was as well as her weak vocals. When DC finally had some success and folks took notice of DC coughs Beyonce.. this was after years of vocal training. There is nothing natural about her talent at all when she was a kid even now.. always comes off forced.

No that is your opinion.

No that is NOT "my opinion", that is your misdirection and re-interpretation of what I said. I don't need anyone to speak for me. I was quite clear.

I said Beyonce had a signature style of singing. She does.

Rihanna has a signature style of singing, too - its just BAD. Chick's voice is a mess. None of them are making classic music. Its all disposeable. Beyonce HAS THE VOICE to do so, which is what Prince was trying to say to her back when they did the duet. Rihanna is mostly image and doesn't have the voice.

If you can't be honest about what I said, how can we have an honest discussion?

We are having an honest discussion that is what I got from your responce! lol

This is the internet how can I know exactly what you are thinking unless you express it or clarify it?

Saying that Beyonce has a signature voice is different from saying that her singing is innovative which is what you implied in your last post. You implied that her singing was nothing that had not been done before and I wholeheartly disagree then and even now their is nothing special about her singing. THEN I went on to give examples of singers during that period that sing/sung better than Beyonce and do the very thing Beyonce imitates that you are implying that began with Beyonce confused

You keep saying Rihanna cant sing which I have NEVER disagreed with lol .. sooo how many more times are you going to say that? B can sing better than Rihanna but she isnt no Aretha, Whitney (prime) or has this special voice that you are hyping her out to be. There are plenty of FEMALE singers now that sing just as good or better that are out now thats all Im saying

The Bottom line is this... Beyonce sings better than Rihanna BUT their music is far from spetacular that was the only point I was making originally.

I hear ya headbang

The only part I disagreed with was you implying she was the FIRST to do that style in that era. Since you claim to not to be a stan I would like to think that you know their were singers before Beyonce doing what you are implying she was the first to do which I really think is obsurd.

Every singer has for the most part their own style of singing, style their best at doing or a style they prefer to do. Just because their singing a particular style doesnt mean they were the first to do it. Some cases ... yes but in this case... hell to the no lol

In all sincerity, I have not listened to a single Rihanna song since P'on da Replay lol

How does this little girl sell so many units in a time when the industry is broke, the economy is bad, and she can't sing a lick? I don't listen to Top 40, Top 100 or Top Whomever/whatever radio, so the appeal of her vocal talent has totally gone over my head lol

I don't think Beyonce had "the best 90's voice" and I don't think that was being implied. But from what I recall in the 90's, if you heard a female singing a song, it was very easy to tell them apart from one another. Nowadays, not really. Everyone sounds similar or uses autotune, doing that techno shit.

I can agree with this. I really can't tell Kesha, Katy Perry, RIhanna, and Britney apart nowadays. They all sound the same on the radio.

She just wants to feel important like those before her, though she's pretty. I only own the original release of Good Girl Gone Bad which was a solid CD, and liked the singles before it. She's been hit and miss since, and is not a serious artist at all. I have no respect for her and would never pay to see her in concert, no charisma or anything from what I've seen on her tv performances.

I hate to tell you this, but unless you're an amazing singer who actually adds something to a song you are not an artist if you don't WRITE your songs. Sinatra didn't write songs, but he was certainly an artist. Rihanna doesn't write her songs and she can barely sing. Make sense? What is her art? Looking good? That has nothing to do with music.

I'm not sure why I feel like you're attacking me, maybe you just selectively read my post and decided to respond to one sentence. I never once said she's a real artist, just that I have one album that I think is catchy, though I wasn't calling it a masterpiece either. I myself prefer artists who write their own GOOD material and have the whole package with talent and charisma. She doesn't have all that. I buy serious music, but when life is stressful sometimes, I'm not afraid to let my hair down and listen to something upbeat, I see no harm in that. Would I buy a Rihanna record today? Hell no, her recent music is garbage for the most part, and like I said, I don't take her seriously.

And for the record, the first thing you posted is the reason I have no respect for Britney Spears. She wasn't writing anything and fucked up her voice and made a career off copying others completely without giving it her own spin. But then there are also people like Whitney who have amazing songs, but must not be good writers or would have done it by now that I respect. Well, older Whitney for her voice, though a couple of the newer songs aren't bad.
