Who is the next funk/r&b/soui heir to the throne?

We were blessed with the late-great James Brown, Sly and the Family Stone, George Clinton, then our funky Prince Rogers Nelson...

But who's the heir apparent to the R&B throne in your opinion?

Or, like Michael Jordan--and the Kobes and Lebrons after him, did Prince raise the bar so high that no one musical prodigy will make this list of symphonic phenoms for some time to come?

Or in an age when style seems to trump substance - will we simply cease to see another James Brown or Prince?
