The deluxe 2 disc edition is worth getting - some amazing added moments you just don't get in the single disc.

nod That's the version I bought.

Some news....it debuted at #65 on the UK chart and fans are blaming Sony and The MJ Estate again neutral

The General public wasn't interested that's why it didn't chart well.

The *fans* need to realise that Greatest Hits albums (which Immortal falls into) won't be big sellers again. Likewise, it is the kind of album that when you have seen the show will mean more, thus it is likely to be a big seller AT the events - in a similar way to the Beatles LOVE album is always selling out at the Mirage in Vegas.

^^ I also think for the general public - once they see the show and have the revelation of how the music has been mashed up and treated, THEN they will buy it.

I think over time The Immortal will go on to sell more than This Is It - but us fans shouldn't be expecting it to sell more than a few million during it's touring life.

Unseen Michael Jackson documentary fails to sell at UK auction

Scrapped movie from 1993 tour was expected to fetch £4 million

A previously unseen Michael Jackson documentary has failed to sell at a London auction.

The film, which features footage of the singer's 'Dangerous' world tour in 1993 filmed in Argentina, was expected to fetch £4 million last night (November 26).

But a spokesman for the Fame Bureau auctioneers said:

At this stage it has not sold. We are still talking to people, but online it did not sell.

The auction house said it had been forced to remove a brief clip of the video from its website before the online auction after Jackson's record label made a "copyright claim", reports Reuters.

The fact that a successful buyer may not be able to use the film for commercial purposes may have dampened demand given the hefty asking price, but the spokesman played down the copyright dispute.

Jackson gave a VHS copy of the scrapped film to his chauffeur, who wished to remain anonymous. The King Of Pop was said to be unhappy with the finished documentary, which is why it was never released, and he also sacked the crew who worked on it.

The driver said he had been given the tape as "a reward or a bonus" for his "transportation services" and leaked a very short clip of the film online in 2009 after Jackson's death, but was stopped by the singer's record label and lawyers who claimed exclusive rights to the film.

However, although he is forbidden by US law from distributing copies, he does have the right to sell or transfer the VHS to third parties.

Since his death in 2009, there has been a slew of Jackson-related memorabilia sold at auction houses. In June of this year, the jacket that the singer wo...or auction, along with his famous white glove and a fedora he wore onstage.

Earlier this month, meanwhile, a pair of silk pyjamas and ... were sold in Ireland (November 8).

Massively.

Though I do wonder why the estate just doesn't offer $1m - $2m to take it out of circulation if they (a) are worried it is something MJ obviously didn't want to be made public (b) want to stop potential distribution.

I'm currently working my way through Joe Vogel's Man In The Music - so far I am enjoying it but wish it had more about how the songs came about and were recorded. For a book that promised to be about the music he does spend a lot of time discussing the music videos with each track. That said, it is nice to be reading a book that explores the artistry of MJ and does so relatively objectively.

What is everyone's views on it?

I think that "Michael didn't feel happy about the show and didn't want it to be made public" is a load of BS. The Bucharest show had been aired a year prior around the world. From what I remember when this tape surfaced, The driver was very nice and friendly to Michael so simply as a gift, Michael gave him a COPY of the show, which Michael did for several people he knew (He sent videos of his concerts to friends and associates when he was on tour)

And it's on VHS. I'm sure the estate has the master tapes of the show in their possession along with the other concerts Michael performed. They may not have that tape, but they probably have the tapes that made that tape lol

Look at how the Brisbane '87 show surfaced. A guy was in a lot and found an in house beta tape by Nocturne Productions with the show on it lol I'm sure the Estate has that show too in full (with Stevie dueting on Bad)

I really haven't seen it advertised anywhere. There are 2 other MJ fans at my work, although not like me and they don't regularly get MJ news online. They hadn't even heard about the album until I told them last week.

Even though I love it and think it's better than any other Greatst Hits there's been, neither of them are willing to buy it and just want me to send them a link.

I've seen it advertised on youtube, facebook and nowhere else. People know about the show, but not the CD. I wish it was at least advertised during the American Music Awards.

Michael Jackson Tribute Promoters File For Bankruptcy
Global Events LLC, company behind last month's 'Michael Forever' concert, reportedly owes thousands to contractors.

By James Montgomery

The company behind last month's controversial Michael Jackson tribute concert has filed for bankruptcy, reportedly due to massive debts owed to contractors who worked on the show. Global Events LLC, the promoters of the "Michael Forever" concert in Wales, have turned their finances over to U.K.-based accounting firm RSM Tenon, according to the Welsh newspaper Western Mail. Tenon told the paper that they are "currently conducting our initial review of the business," and reports state that Global Events owes "thousands of pounds" to workers, including members of the U.K. broadcasting union Bectu.

The "Michael Forever" tribute concert was held on October 8 in Cardiff, Wales, and though the show went on — featuring performances by Christina Aguilera, Jamie Foxx, Cee Lo Green and Ne-Yo — it was beset by difficulties from the onset. The Jackson estate expressed their disapproval that they were not consulted over use of Jackson's image, Jackson's brothers Jermaine and Randy called into question the timing of the concert (given the then-ongoing trial of Jackson's former physician, Dr. Conrad Murray), and in the days leading up to the show, announced headliners Kiss were pulled after lead singer Gene Simmons reportedly made derogatory comments about the late King of Pop.

The Black Eyed Peas and Jennifer Hudson — both of whom were also announced as performers at the show — also pulled out before the gig.

Global Events was established in March by producers Michael Henry and Chris Hunt, though according to the Western Mail, both men left the partnership on the day of the concert. When contacted by the newspaper for comment on the company's bankruptcy, Henry said, "All enquires about Global Events should be made [to RSM Tenon]."

isn't there a song with a chorus that says, 'come on, take the money and run'? this was nothing more than a scam. if the rumors are correct, one of the 'partners' was latoya jackson. this is just sad. i feel more and more sorry for mj with each passing day.

For the past 6 months I've been working on a book about the 101 essential MJ songs - a track by track review of the 101 must hear songs. When I heard Joe Vogel was doing his book I kind of slowed down as I thought there might be similar takes.

My plan, once it is finished, is to release it as a free download. It's more a passion project to get fans talking about the music again. Which, in my opinion, is never a bad thing.

Interesting tidbit - According to Roger Taylor from Queen, Michael was partially responsible for Another One Bites The Dust being a hit. They had recorded the song as an album track and when Michael met them after one of their gigs at The Forum he emplored them to release it as a single. According to Taylor, most of the band didn't think it was a hit, but Michael said it was a smash and convinced them.

The track was released to radio as a test and took off. It shot to number 1 as a single and remains Queens biggest selling single.

I would love to help in writing that book by doing research on the songs you have chosen. What's Joe Vogel's book going to be about?

IT is a good read - my only gripe (and it's a petty one) is that for all the discussion of music it seems at times to be more a discussion on the accompanying music videos.

But I got to give him props for seeing it through - especially as he started it in 2005 - not the friendliest of times to be writing a PRO-MJ book.

I am hoping to have my book finished by the new year - but reality might set in and make it a lat Jan release.
