Aretha Franklin ~ Nessun Dorma

What is your opinion on this performance?

Personally, I love Pavaratti's version of it, but I've listenned to this one almost as much.

Aretha's performance seems to be a 'contraversial' one, since her voice isn't exactly

a classic operatic voice. She neither has the strength nor the power of Pavaratti

when performing the song, but she adds a very strange soulful warmth that just

seeps into me.

But if you listen closely to partso of this performance she breaths so much sincerity

and emtoion into it, that every time I've ever heard it , I'm moved.

There are so many little moments in this rendition that I love that I can hardly

contain my emotions when I hear it.

Here's one of my favorite performances by Pavaratti so you can see what audiences

were actually expecting that night: http://youtu.be/O0Sx5lbVlQA

What's your opinion. Is Aretha's rendition beautiful or unfortunate?

I think it is resoundingly beautiful.

eek I just watched this with my boyfriend last night!

I remember when this happen...
I was with my parents.....they were so proud and I was so moved at this feat....Aretha....Opera.... eek

I went to school asking everyone did they see it.....for me it was a moment for her and to all of the people who admire this woman for the voice and the spirit she puts in her music. It was not Pavvy's thunderous voice but at that moment it didn't need to be. Aretha had some balls for sure to do this on short notice....I would have been shitting bricks lol

I love the performance plain and simple.

It was nice comparing the performances. I liked her performance. She is simply a great singer. The accent at the beginning was a little strange, but apart from that really nice.
