The next Eminem will be a woman That is my prediction. Early on, female emcees were treated as a novelty in a black male dominated genre. With the rise in popularity of hip-hop to pop status, it wasn't long before the mainstream audience found a white knight to champion. That was Eminem. Rolling Stone, a magazine that knows jack-all about hip-hop, declared him "king of all rap". Well, pop music is circled around a young, female base. It stands to reason that very soon, there will be a Princess of rap to join Eminem. Right now, Nicki Minaj is blowing up the charts, but let's face it, no matter how biracial, bisexual or bi-anything she may be - she's not "mainstream" enough.

I don't care as long as their better than Nicki, which isn't too hard of a task.

Nicki's not a bad rapper; she's just annoying. And, I wonder if she writes her own rhymes.

i like the karmin people they seem talented but the name is silly. amy has clearly had some kind of training and remind me of some of the musical theater girls i knew in school.
the kreayshawn seem like an idiot. she was directing videos this summer- i think she should keep with that. i remeber her moms band- she looks just like her mom, but she should stick to videos.
the aussie seems like fun. im not that familiar with he refernces to her music but she certainly has talent. Prince #MUSICIANICONLEGEND

I like Nikki as a recording artist better. Not as a rapper. I love her mixture of pop, R&B, and rap. One of the most originals out there right now.

The Next Eminem is Jean Grae. Case Closed. Keep your headphones on.

Now you and I both know that's not true. I love Jean's work but you KNOW she will never be mainstream just off subject matter alone. Pop music is about fluff and Jean Grae has way too much substance. Plus, she doesn't mince words about the "powers that be" and they ain't havin' that in this day and age.
Lady Sovereign's accent is too thick to make it to the top of the pop charts in the U.S. [Edited 10/23/11 9:32am]

Uhhhhhh...........NO. She bores me.

Well a guy can dream, can't he? You're right, but to me Jean is the best emcee since Eminem in his prime, and I will never stop repping her. Nobody in the mainstream even comes close. Keep your headphones on.

There, THAT'S^ more like it.

As ridiculous as that would seem, history shows that the mu-sick biz does this repeatedly. "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. C'mon y'all."

@ tA - you know artists like Invincible and Brother Ali get no love in the game. That's not the image of hip-hop that the powers that be want displayed.
Now, Iggy has a more "offical" looking video:
200k hits on youtube in a week. They WILL push this girl purely off asthetics. Karmin will go mainstream because she already has a built in audience ready to elevate her to pop stardom. Iggy will be like an anti-Karmin - an Aussie with street cred?
The last chick that looked like her went straight to the top. I can see this happening again. Its the image game. The team she has behind her now will push her as far as they can, then some cats with real paper will come and "buy" her out from under her present team, tone her lyrics back just a little from being raunchy and raw (rated x) to sexually suggestive (rated hard R) and push as many videos as they can of her onto the public. She will be dirty enough for teen girls' parents to dislike her - which will immediately make her cool.
