September 3, 2011

The legendary thrash band's collaborative effort featuring Velvet Underground's Lou Reed is officially titled 'Lulu' and hits stores October 31st Worldwide and November 1st in North America; Check out half of the official track list.

Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammet hinted at a mysterious project that wouldn't necessarily be 100% Metallica a few months back, but nobody quite knew what was in store.

After the metal band performed with Lou Reed at the 25th Anniversary of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009, the two forces of music began discussions of collaborating further, resulting in a full studio album titled Lulu.

Check out the official website here: www.loureedmetallica.com

The theme behind the 10 songs contained on 'Lulu' according to the official website is as follows:

'Lulu' was inspired by German expressionist writer Frank Wededkind’s plays “Earth Spirit” and “Pandora’s Box,” which tell a story of a young abused dancer’s life and relationships and are now collectively known as the “Lulu Plays.” Since their publication in the early 1900′s, the plays have been the inspiration for a silent film (“Pandora’s Box,” 1929), an opera, and countless other creative endeavors.

Half of the 10 song titles have been revealed as 'Frustration', 'Junior Dad', 'Little Dog', 'Mistress Dread' and 'Pumping Blood'.

I love Lou...

But he looked so decrepit on that special.

Made me kinda sad.

I might rather hear Metallica cover Lou

Lou's singing these days seems even less inspired than normal.

He seems to have found the middle ground of 'mumbling' and 'wheezing' hasn't he?

I listened to lulu a few hours ago and its nothing special by a long shot. Out of the 10 songs i would say maybe 4 are somewhat memorable but the rest sounds like ReLoad throw a ways. Its just not that interesting music wise or vocal wise. I thought they would have done better than this.
