I do like the song, though. But not as much as 'Say Say Say'. But more than 'The Girl Is Mine' ....

SaySaySay tops them all. I dig this track...their voices match so well together.

"Classic filler" and one of THE worst tracks on the disappointing follow-up to Paul's masterful Tug of War album.

Waste of talent on this track.

I could never get into this track the same way I got into "Say Say Say". They were good on "The Girl is Mine" but this was definitely a flop for the listening ears to me.

I never understood why the chorus is the same as the second part of the verse
It's kind of nice in a very bland way, but yeah Pipes of Peace just is not good compared to Tug of War. Even Say Say Say sounds weird and out of place on a Paul McCartney record. My Legacy

This is actually my favorite of the 3 they recorded together (Apparently there's a fourth titled "Remember This Night"). Say Say Say was weak IMO and The Girl Is Mine is by far the worst song on Thriller, the demo version is better than the finished track "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

Here's a song from the same album. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

This song is better than both , " the girl is mine " and " say say say " MICHAEL JACKSON

"Say Say Say" is sheer perfection to my ears. While "The Girl Is Mine" isn't a highlight, the title track is the "worst" song on Thriller IMO. And I've never really gotten into "The Man"... it's OK, but nothing more. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Michael said that experience helped his confidence in the studio.
I just think in an early 80s, pre-MTV context, the types of songs they did make more sense in what was on radio at the time, and half of Pipes of Peace were Tug of War outtakes.

Yeah, light rock was popular then. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

I really liked "Pipes of Peace" overall, I think it's an underrated album. "So Bad" is just lovely. "The Man" would have been a massive hit had it been released as a single. I seem to remember that record company issues prevented it from being released. * * *

^^I wonder why, because technically both Mike & Paul were part of the same label (at least in the US). Paul was on Columbia and Mike was on Epic, which were both CBS labels. I think The Man was released as a single in Mexico, but not for sure on that. You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B.
