My mom used to wear the entire God's Property album out back in the day lol

Me too. pray This CD is still awesome, and still a part of my private worship experiences.

music The night's that I cried, you loved me. When I should have died, you still loved me.

I'm sick and tired of the Prince fans being sick and tired of the Prince fans that are sick and tired!

The problem with gospel music now though is that once Kirk semi-"broke through" mainstream-wise every other gospel artist tried to copy him. So now every gospel artist is either urban comtemporary or Hillsong.

nod It's like "follow the money trail". That's why whenever I DO hear a gospel song that is old school and traditional I actually cheer lol makes me wanna clap and stomp my feet like people used to do. cool

Exactly. This new urban contemporary trend also makes it look like the church has nothing new to offer, when most don't even know that the church started that stuff. We need to go back and recognize our roots. Stop following trends and be original, damn it.

Gospel purists piss me off. It's like some of these artists if they feel the anointing they would want to express it and gospel purists just want them to stick to what they were doing but that ain't right because you shouldn't tell someone who was formerly R&B to not do something they feel it was their nature to do in the first place. Reminds me of Patti LaBelle's comments about not being allowed in her church anymore because she sang "Lady Marmalade". Hypocritical bitches...

I agree. There the most judgemental people ever and contradict what they sing about and claim to base their life on. It doesnt matter if someone was a pop singer and chooses to sing gospel, if they suddenly feel they are called to do that at the moment then thats their decision why should they be condemned for it? Music is music its not about the person who sings the music, its about how the music makes you feel..
