I was in 8th and 9th grade when Murder Inc was big falloff

I'll say this and I don't care if I get flamed, but thank god for Kanye West because the overabundance of Fiddy, Ja, Cam'Ron and all that was at a ALL TIME high lol

Well i'm a New Yorker so I didn't mind artists from where I from were on top lol But I think Kanye is flawless I was all about Kanye when 2004 hit and I still am wasn't even thinking about dipset and them as much anymore lol

Peoples' eagerness to be sheep amases me

The public collectively hates on Kanye now because its popular to do so

Everyone was in such an outrage over the shit he said about that country what's-her-face chick

But basically, Kanye made her career

Barely anyone even knew who she was before that incident.....the next day she was headline news

Murder INC fell off so hard. From 2000 to 2003, they wre like how YMCMB are now. Radio hits everywhere, no.1 albums and the top female artist in the game(Ashanti).

50 Cent single handedly destroyed their careers.

I never understood the Lil' Wayne thing

I find him to be repulsive

That's not exactly true. Taylor Swift like most country artists has a strong fanbase who still actually buy CDs. That's why most country artist go platinum and multi platinum while other genres struggle to do so. Also it wasn't so much what he said but the way he went about it. It's an example of the fact that money and fame doesn't equal class and manners. You can polish a turd all day long and it's still just going to be a piece of shit!

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I always said that the entire episode came off as a stunt anyway

Kanye got to reinforce his rebellious 'fuck what you think bad boy ego maniac against the world' image

Taylor Shitz got to be the innocent ingenue victim

Beyonce got to play the generous diva to the rescue

....and the public ate it up

Win, win, win!

To this day I think Irv Gotti bought all(at least 250,000) of those Ashanti CDs for her first release. I never met anyone who had her music yet she sold half a million in the first week! lol

I never liked her music or image

They were trying way too hard with her

I think they were just looking for something new. Aaliyah had just passed away, Beyonce hadn't yet went solo (I don't think.) Pre Rihanna and Ciara and Keri.

I think Mya was around at that time, Brandy too. Tweet (remember her, Oops!) released her CD the same day as Ashanti's.

I always thought Brandi was the shit

Keri Hilson?.....hopefully after this album they'll send her back to where she came from
...or drop her back off where they found her....whichever is quicker and cheapest

LOL BINGO.

2002 was like an off-year. There was no competition, things were relatively safe which is why she was sooo successful.

50 came along the next year talkin mess --- couple that with the birth of Beyonce and it was pretty much a wrap after that.

Now she's off-Broadway right? LMAO

Rihanna, to me, has more "talent' than Ashanti and certainly more than that one lame ass dance move. Remember when 50 went in on her sideburns?

That's a bad trend lately of taking good songwriters and trying to turn them into great singers. They just turn out being mediocre and then it makes their songwriting seem lacking(i.e. Keri Hilson, Ne-Yo, Ashanti). Some people should remain behind the scenes.

I agree, But Ne-yo WAS amazing (his first album was kick ass) But he just went downhill from that point

I think he's a good writer and it shows when the material gets to the right artist but he doesn't sing that great. He tends to write similar sounding tracks which works fine if they're being sung by multiple artists. It doesn't work work for him on his CDs though. Gets repetitive fast!
