Article: Rapper T.I. says gays ‘too sensitive'

This dumb ass felon has some nerve...

http://www.accessatlanta....id=thbz_hm

T.I.'s publicists may find themselves working on a statement of apology after the Atlanta rapper told a popular hip-hop publication that gays need to get a sense of humor.

‘C'mon man, I think gay people are too sensitive," T.I. is quoted in the Dec. 6 issue of Vibe magazine. He was referring to last summer's controversy involving comedian Tracy Morgan, who unleashed a torrent of hateful remarks toward gays during a club appearance in Nashville. The "30 Rock" star said he would "stab his son to death if he said he was gay."

Morgan later apologized, saying the joke "went too far and was not funny in any context."

T.I. said many in the gay community don't respect the First Amendment when it comes to the views of their opponents. "That's not American," he said.

"They’re like, ‘If you have an opinion against us, we’re gonna shut you down,' " the Grammy-winning artist told Vibe. "If you’re gay you should have the right to be gay in peace, and if you’re against it you should have the right to be against it in peace."

T.I., born Clifford Harris, was released from a halfway house in September following one year in custody for his arrest in September 2010 in Los Angeles on drug charges. He was sentenced to 11 months for violating terms of a previous supervised released after being convicted of federal firearms charges.

Harris remains under supervised release until Sept. 2012 and is required to participate in a drug/alcohol testing and treatment program.

Its true, GLAAD will call for anyone head to be chopped off foe saying something. Even in comedy. The lgbt commumity cries wolf too much, get a backbone. Everyone is not to offend them.

Funny, I didn't see him standing up for Don Imus when he got fired for making that comment. I don't remember him claiming that black people were being 'too sensitive' about it.

Ugh! That kind of hypocrisy makes me sick.

confused you're gonna say we're too sensitive while mentioning a horrible comment you yourself think went too far? err

Yes of course GLAAD or whoever can get carried away but if crying fowl at the glorification of acts that lead to us getting beat up or killed is too sensitive I think we as a human species need to take a good hard look at ourselves and decide here and now where we want to go. (Someone who's been in prison might not be qualified to make such decisions for the rest of us...)

Won't someone please tell me why Blacks are compared to gays so often? I don't get it.

Perhaps because we don't chose our race or sexuality, so to bash, insult, beat or deny someone rights because of who or what they are is not right, so thus the only commonality in the linkage.

I would bet T.I. would be a bit sensitive if his right to marry was on the ballot.

The comparison is made often due to the sheer irony of the situation.

I'm mainly addressing T.I.'s comments about how freedom of speech should be exercised w/o getting trounced upon by those who oppose. Don Imus said something that a lot of people found insulting. Yet, T.I. did not stand up for Don Imus's right for free speech. Probably because he did not agree with what Don Imus said. If you are going to start going on about how free speech needs to be protected, then you have to support it all, even the ones you don't agree with.

Well what the fuck did you say about Gay people?

Tell me, I dare you.

Cause I don't think it too sensitive to defend the diginity of the LGBT community when country's like Uganda want to put gays to death, when our teenagers are killing themeselves, when our partners are denied hospital visitation, when our heroes have been killed, when our brothers and sisters aren't always safe watching the street.

When the LGBT community has every single privalege a straight person has, then maybe we'll stop being "too sensitive"

We should all have a better sense of humor and take ourselves far less seriously.

But holding everyone under the same generic umbrella to a virtually unsustainable perfection is the real ignorance.

It's the philosophy of be better than us, even though we secretly think less of you.

To deny that straight people have privilege is foolish.

I have a back bone, and that's why I stand up for what I believe in and I will call foul wherever and whenever I see it.

I take teenage suicide epidemics seriously

I take gay bashing seriously

I take gay baiting

and I take all of the cultural habits that support these evils very seriously.

Absolutely.

That's what I mean by "virtually unsustainable perfection."

So are you saying that at some point, a child makes a choice about his/her sexuality? At what age does this usually occur???

LGBT people today are too sensitive. You should be able to say what you want without some entire group demanding an apology. I think if individual gays choose not to support that person, fine – but I think it’s stupid of people to allow a group of people to polarize them by TELLING them to be offended. why it’s “funny” to make fun of obesity, stereotype jokes and all that, but one thing said about somebody being gay is “hate speech”.
