Apologies but I'm in thesis-writing mode so no time to do my homework 'in full' and come up with 5 so at the top of my head, here are just 2 covers that just came to my mind:
. "The Beautiful Ones" by Mariah Carey [with Dru Hill, on her Butterfly album]: one of my all-time favorites, very dramatic towards the end.
. MJ's "Butterflies" [demo version] by Floetry: this was a total and happy surprise for me when I checked their 2002 Floetic album, very well performed imo, with a perfect personal touch.
