The fact that these women aren't in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is truly criminal...headbang

I'm now in the firm belief Patti was better off with a group than by herself. Labelle rules.

nod I'm listening to LaBelle's underrated 1973 classic, Pressure Cookin' and Patti cooked with the group. They rule!

!!!!!!!!!!

LaBelle is the greatest secular girl group in history IMHO. They rival the Tempts in group dynamics/ roleplay, harmony, exquisite songwriting and overall sound of what a girl group is supposed to be. I recently just got into them after watching them perform Can I Talk To You Before You Go To Hollywood? on youtube. Just marvelous!! I highly recommend watching their performances on youtube.

I only wish they had a proper compilation of singles/hits to their name so that one can really hear them transform through the decades and have a place to start musically. I think I might just buy Patti's Gold album cuz I do love Patti's solo classics as well. Let me get into these songs biggrin

Stevie Wonder = EARTH
Prince = WIND
Chaka Khan = FIRE
Sade = WATER

Hmm. So would you say its better to buy their albums than buying a compilation?

Yeah Patti's career does need to be anthologized more properly. She deserves a box ASAP. But I feel that LaBelle's 1973-1976 albums deserves to be listened from beginning to end. They were on a roll from Pressure Cookin' to Chameleon. Brilliant material, exqusite experimentation, gritty soul, hard rock and gospel, and more.

Thanks for sharing. I love Let Me See You in the Light. Discovered it not too long ago and it quickly became a favorite. I never heard Going On a Holiday before, but am already downloading it. I have to get my hands on some of their older albums in their entirety. I only have songs here and there, but I LOVE all that I have. I have always loved LaBelle and Patti.
