Me too. So it makes perfect sense that Brian May has asked Lady Gaga to be their lead singer.

Though I like both bands I could live with just only a Queen's greatest hits collection. But Pink Floyd...gotta have their whole discography. So I'm going with Pink Floyd.

Obviously you have mostly only heard their 80's hits, how is something like The March Of The Black Queen or The Prophet's Song bubblegum??

Queen were always a flashy band doing excellent pop singles with cutting edge production, but the real weird/experimental masters will always be the Floyd...

for me, the only "experimental/weird as fuck" Queen album is "II"

Since I don't own, nor have I ever heard, a Pink Floyd album I would have to say I prefer Queen.

Hmm... good lord. I know there both ''classic rock'' but to me there miles different

Pink Floyd is the psychedlic... Queen is the operatic.

Freddy has the better voice hands down!, but i think Roger Waters, David Gilmour & Nick Mason are better musicians then Brian, Roger & John Deacon[Who are great themselves]

But i would say Pink Floyd wrote a couple songs.. i think are better then what Queen wrote.

I will say Floyd by a hair

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

All music is shit music and no music is real- gunsnhalen

They really are not the same thing, but I would pick Pink Floyd for my personal taste.

I am liking Queen more and more lately, but I like the spacey, serious, and thoughtful floyd versus the in your face flash of Queen.

I have to be in the right mood to listen to Floyd....but Queen I can listen to anytime! One of my favorite groups! Such variety in their songs!

I like both bands, but Queen is the better band in my opinion. Freddie Mercury was one of the best performers that ever walked this planet. Their songs and performances are amazing.

I once read an article (somewhere in the nineties) that Prince often used to watch Queen-concerts on TV. I can understand why.

This is like comparing oranges to apples.

Pink Floyd is a psychedelic, progressive band and Queen a (Glam) rock band that used to be progressive in their first years.

Queen went for a more commercial sound during the 80's while the Floyd kept playing their immense space music.

I guess it depends on which mood you're in cuz I certainly can't pick either. compare Sheer heart attack to atom heart mother? or Innuendo to Dark Side? miles apart yet both have their shining moments!!

Freddy was the better singer though wink

Totally agree...all depends on what mood I'm in.

If I had to pick I'd say Floyd are my more favourite band. But both are equally brilliant.

Queen are more jocular, humourous, tongue-in-cheek, light hearted. They've done some great music and if I'm in that sort of mood there's nothing like them. Down side is they can come across a bit kitsch sometimes, a bit cheesy.

Floyd are more introspective, more dark, more mysterious...I find that a slightly more interesting place, so probably why I favour them. Down side, all their stuff has this tone, so rarely do I finish a Floyd album and walk away in a cheerful mood! Not that their stuff depresses me...its just an overall vibe...

Eh, it's not really that surprising, is it? There are a lot of bands/singers out there, no one can listen to everything. wink

Apples and Oranges.

Allthough both used prog-rock / symphonical rock-elements in their music, Queen always seemed to be a bit more ironic, playfull, and also interested in mainstream succes without feeling 'bad' about it: hence their experiments with disco, funk and hitparade-pop.

Pink Floyd has always seen more intellectual to me, humourless also. To me they take their music very seriously and also seem to miss the real fun and joy a band like Queen could give you. In short: Pink Floyd was the Radiohead of the seventies and eighties.

Personally i prefer Queen.

blah ... blah ... blah lol
Prince did not write anything good after Purple Rain
Michael has not released anything good after Thriller.
Pink Floyd have not released anything good since The Dark Side Of The Moon.

I'm tired of these stupid stereotypes and cliches.

I love The Wall and The Division Bell razz

Queen was a better band, but I like Pink Floyd's songs more. Definitely depends on the mood you're in.

Or go by Queen at Live Aid vs Pink Floyd at Live 8.

Mercury had a huge ego, but unlike Waters, wanted everyone to get songwriting credit. John Deacon was the one who did the most R&B influenced songs. He & Mercury were prob. aware of Prince when he had his first hit.

They're one of the few bands ever that every single member of the band wrote at least one hit (thank Roger Taylor for Lady Gaga's name). There's some songs where they shared credits, but these were individually done. Not even The Beatles could say all 4 of them wrote a hit single. Also, Brian May has a real Ph.D.

Mercury - Bohemian Rhapsody

Taylor - Radio Gaga

May - We Will Rock You

Deacon - Another One Bites the Dust

Waters to this day complains about who did what on Pink Floyd's albums.

I never did understood the fuzz for Pink Floyd's music.

Their music is so calculated, rational and soulless in the end. It doesnt touch me at all.
