New Coldpay Album...whose excited??!

...its almost here, not long to wait now!

Can they keep the momentum of topping their last album with the next one going?

Must admit X&Y was my favourite but the more I listened to Viva the more it became apparent what an amazing album it is. I love the way all the songs start in one direction then go to unexpected places by the climax (Death and All His Friends...great track)

I hope the new album will be even better. What I've heard so far sounds brilliant (Every Tear Is A Waterfall is already one of my fave songs ever)...the band at Glastonbury were untouchable, much better than the U2 who came across as bored and predictable...did you see the sh*t mood Larry Mullen was in during the interview afterwards?). During their set, despite how great their classics sounded it was the new songs that stole the show for me. Can't wait to him them on the new album!

I'm less than enthusiastic about the lead single. It meanders, stalls and then fades into nothingness. Regarding the album cover art, it hurts my eyes to look. confused

X&Y was and will always be their best work.

I really didnt like the Tears song...it kinda sucked

However the next single Paradise is much more promising...

Loved these guys back before anyone had heard Yellow so I have been happy for their success...

Not me.

I liked their first album, but after that i felt they were too busy trying to proof they were the new REM or U2, when they simply lack the authencity and creativity to be so.

Surprised to see so much love for X&Y, my least-favorite album by them. Viva la Vida is far and away their best work to my ears. I'm digging "Paradise"; I hope the album is at least close to the quality of the last.

Yeah they have this supergroup mentality but don't have the chops to pull it off. I find it odd their as big as they are, I just don't hear anything original here.

Every Tear...meanders and stalls? Really??

I thought it built wonderfully and the more it goes on the more you want to move to it. And it doesnt outstay its welcome. Seeing it at Glasto this year at the climax of their set with the pyramid stage fully lit up for the first time was the icing on the cake!

And I quite like the cover...the New York graffiti vibe...its different to what I was expecting from them (and probably appeals more to this old Madonna fan truth be told! smile )

They've done it again! Just finished listening to the new album and even on the first play through it was fantastic. Beautiful melodies, lots of potential classic songs (longer version of Teardrop was immense!), even bigger soundscapes than they managed on Viva...

...five albums of increasing quality now...how long can it last?!! Need to get me a ticket to their O2 December show now!!!

This is a real colourful album, it's all over the place, sounds quite rushed i like it.

We're here, might as well get into it.

Definately...though I didn't get the sense it was rushed (they already held it back from its Dec 2010 original release date), more like they had so much to say they didnt know where to start! biggrin

Could have done without Rihanna's flavour of the moment nasel warbling on "Princess of China", and some of the reviews have said they didn't take any risks with the album, didnt offer anything new...but I say if its not broke dont fix it. Its far from being a stale sound yet so I dont feel the need for a change. Prince didnt switch up until he was 5 or 6 albums into his career...

...that having been said, Id like to see some longer tracks from them, really stretch themselves over a ten or fifteen minute opus....maybe an album like Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here".

On first listen, I think it may end up being my second favorite behind Viva la Vida.

Now that I've heard the entire thing - just as I expected.

Only a few decent tracks - the rest forgettable
