Queen Latifah Is Nominated 4 Oscar GRACIOUS QUEEN: Oscar-nominated Queen Latifah awed by co-stars.
(Feb. 14, 2003) *How is Queen Latifah taking her tinsel town fame? Very much in stride. Thanks to her outstanding supporting role in the hit film “Chicago,” the rapper/singer/actress is just about the only minority actor nominated for an Academy Award this year and she told Launch that she’s very excited, very thankful, and very impressed with the film and actor John C. Reilly. "I'm delightfully surprised at everybody's reaction," Latifah said. “John C. Reilly -- he got me with 'Mr. Cellophane' at the table read, and it was just, like, 'Wow, I'm part of something special.' And these dancers that are actually in the Broadway play -- the things these men and women can do with the body like amazes me, so I was kind of in awe through the whole process." -I am very happy that Queen Latifah was nominated for an Oscar this year. I personally felt that she should've been nominated years ago for her role in "Set it Off." It's also sad that it took all this time for White folks to notice her range of talent.  I am so proud of Queen Latifah and it is about time that the Academy recognized her. I loved her in Set It off and she should've received more accolades for that breakthrough performance. I picked up her Greatest Hits compliation back in December and I love her two new songs "Shes A Queen" and "Go Head." I want to see "Bringin' Down The House" that looks like its going to be funny. I just adore Queen La! ALL HAIL! Can't wait for a new album by her. I'M SO GLAD SHE IS CONTINUALLY BLOWING UP! | |

I hate that kinda of stereotype too but when I brought up the "Set It Off" it wasn't becoz she's a gangstress. Its becoz she played a role nobody would wanna see(a black lesbian) thats a real turn off once you hear it from somebody's mouth but when you see the movie you change yo mind. REAL ACTING 2 me is being able to act someone who's not you at all thats why I thought that Miss Owens desereved an Oscar 4 that role. Trust me,,that role being a gangstress have nothing 2 do with why I wanted her 2 have an Oscar. What I loved about her is she knew how to make GOOD MOVIES without going into the sex saga, making herslef look cheap like many of them did(Cameron-Sharon-Cathrine-Bruse Willis's ex wife"4got her name" and many many many others.) LOL and I know thats right. I love my girl but the thing is she don't play "different roles" I guess thats why they don't give her a chance. Angela always play "around the way lady" ya know? the modern day foxy brown, the in control tuff sistah who will fuck you up if you crossed her road which is cool, she's showing a very respectable side of the black woman. But thats not the deal with the movie producers,,they want different roles and I guess thats Angela's problem right there. Overall, I think that she shoula be chosen instead of Halle 2 play "Foxy Brown". I love Halle but she's just ain't all that when it comes 2 play the tuff street chic at all. Hell, picturing her pulling that kinda attitude is painful 4 my eyes  but I won't bring my sistah down. I might as well give her a chance becoz who knows?? She maybe good. | |

Overall, I think that she shoula be chosen instead of Halle 2 play "Foxy Brown". I love Halle but she's just ain't all that when it comes 2 play the tuff street chic at all.
