One reason why she should be in the RRHOF. I'm sure Bruce Springsteen would agree:)

a little interesting trivia on this song..

***This song was originally recorded as a duet between Donna and Bruce Springsteen, but in the end,it was decided that their voices didn't really sound good together.

***Before he gave this song to Donna,Bruce was actually planning to offer Donna a song called "Cover Me".His manager heard the demo and told him to keep it for himself, which he did.It became a smash hit for him 1984.

A fan took the circulating Bruce Springsteen demo of this song and mixed it with Donna's version,to give you an idea of what the duet version sounds like....

It's a shame they never did release that duet. Apparently the duet is still in the archives of Warner Music.

I love this song.I think it's Donna's most convincing rock song headbang Don't know why it wasn't released as a single. This sounds like it would have been a Top 10 smash in 1982.

Honestly,I don't like any of her other rock songs boxed I never liked stuff like "Cold Love" and the rock-ish stuff on I'm A Rainbow. It didn't sound genuine."Protection" is great.

I said something on TUMBLR a few days ago that if Donna nor any of the other female artists (Ann and Nancy, Joan, Chaka, etc.) didn't make it (and you have to pick one or two for five inductees), I was gonna start my own Occupy movement and march to their offices in Cleveland or New York and hold them hostage. lol

I think the Donna Summer album is her best work of the 80s,but I don't think the right singles were released. These are the singles that I would have chosen:

"Love Is In Control (Finger On The Trigger)"---this was rightfully chosen as the first single and it did extremely well on the pop and R&B charts.

"If It Hurts Just A Little"---this would have been the perfect follow-up single.A catchy, intoxicating Quincy Jones groove. There are several great hooks in this song.

"Protection"---promoted to pop and rock stations, with a great video sent to MTV.This would have been the big 'crossover' hit from the album.
