Yeah its good. Its an all female supergroup & has two members of Sleater Kinney (Carrie Brownstein & Janet Weiss) If anyone hasn't heard it yet rush out & buy Sleater Kinneys The Woods. Janet Weiss kicks major arse on the drums & it has some ulra tasty hooks. I'm also a sucker for chicks who rock hard (in a funky place).

I've liked Sleater Kinney since Dig Me Out and read the rave reviews about Wild Flag so I bought the album a few weeks ago, but shame on me for not giving it a listen until yesterday because both their local shows are already sold out. mad

Yes, the Wild Flag record is amazing. I also really like the records by Dum Dum Girls and Zola Jesus.

I have yet to hear a truelly great release this year. I personally don't buy many CD's anymore, probably because my collection is so big allready and I don't seem to notice new artists that really 'move' me enough to buy their material.

Anyway, i am interested in listening to new releases from:

The Jayhawks. My favourite alt.country band (or modern country-rock, band whatever). I wasn't really satisfied with the Gary Louris / Mark Olson reunion-album from a few years ago, but this new album with the full band seems to get favorable reviews. Time to check it out.

The New Bjork album. I wasnt impressed with her new single, and i also didnt buy her last album, but its interesting to see what she has come up with. Allthough Vespertine is one of my favourite albums ever, i somehow lost my interest in her after that. Maybe time to recapture with her music again.

I will check out new Matthew Sweet album some more. I listened to his new album on an internet-stream, and i am not sure what to make of it yet. I doubt he reaches his level of the nineties with it, but for completionist-sake alone i probably buy the album.. lol

Allthough i have the rest of the songs allready in my collection, i am curious about the three new songs on the REM greatest hits collection. I am a bit affraid Jacknee Life's 'butchered' his songs with his production (like he did with the material on Accelerate and Collapse into now), but since they are one of my favourite bands i will surely check them out.

I also would like to check the CD Neil Finn and his wife recorded and i hope Prince releases a new solo-album again later this year (not some Andy allo-collaboration, but a true solo album).

Anyway, this all shows how i am really far behind when it comes to following what is happening within the musical world these days.. lol

Maybe it has something to do with my age, or with an 'overdose' of bought and consumed music in the past? But i notice that i dont really feel the need anymore to look for new artists. I mostly listen to the albums i allready have, or buy the latest CD's from acts which music i have been loving for a long time.

I didn't know neil had something new out, always an intersteng listen He's just as prolific as prince maybe moreso these days. He also kicks some major booty live. 7 Worlds Collide is one of my favorite live dvd's. His cover of " There is a light" w/ Johnny Marr on guitar is Ear Candy.

Rather new and actually not a song from the album, just a documentary, but I love this.

Neil Finn is one of my favourite artists of the last 30 years.

Allthough i aint to fond of the last two 'Crowded House' albums, after they have been reunited (either too long or too much filler), I indeed dig that 7 Worlds Collide album (and that Smiths cover): live he is mostly great.

His first solo-album 'Try Whistling this' is one of my favourite 'modern' singer-songwriter albums: more dark and experimental then usal, great production by Marius de Vries also.

This new album with his wife seems to be more playfull, danceable also.

I used to love Bjork, but at this point I'm so over her. I haven't enjoyed her last couple of releases. They were too avant garde and unmelodic for me. I like a lot of indie and alternative music, but I like it with hooks and melodies. Has anyone heard the new Bjork record? Is it more accessible than her recent stuff?

I"m the opposite of you. I've been listening to a lot of newer artists lately. A lot of the older artists I like have either changed away from their style that I loved or have gotten lazy and not put much effort into their new music.

Well, that is what i liked about her Vespertine-album.

On the surface / on first listen, it might sound like some 'artsy fartsy' stuff, but its actually a very organic, almost folk-like record.

Since then i have the idea she is more interested in the concepts and the presentation, then the music

itself.

I like good indie and alternative music too, as long as it doesnt mean being nonchalant and lazy in terms of songwriting, or thinking that any kind of fart or scream or any other thing that might be considered 'provocative' means quality.

What kind of new musicians you have been listening too lately, Glinda. I am curious, because i dont seem to find any interesting ones.. lol

I really like this new band called Yuck. They are influenced by 90's alternative rock bands like Dinosaur, Jr and Sonic Youth. I saw them live recently and they were so great. I also like this band called the Joy Formidable who are also kind of influenced by that kind of 90's rock. I believe they are opening for the Foo Fighters on their current tour. As I said before, I love the Wild Flag record although they aren't really new musicians, but are a new band.

Just played by Thom Yorke in his BBC radio 6 mix. Obviously, the man's got taste, I got to get another album.

Zola Jesus' Conatus isn't bad. More conventional for her, but overall it's still out there compared to other indie releases.

Speaking of out there, I really like Björk's Biophilia. Upon first listen I was hmm but the second time love

St. Vincent's Strange Mercy - I only listened to this once so far and there are almost too many cool things going on. Can't really decide yet where it falls in my best of 2011 list. I definitely like it more than 2009's Actor though.

Neil Finn is my favorite artist of all time. Since forming Crowded House, he has yet to make a record I don't love. The Pajama Club record is good fun that doesn't take itself too seriously. It's pretty lightweight compared to the rest of his catalog, but I think that's the point. I recommend it. (As an aside, the only bad thing I can say about the last Crowded House record is that the very best songs didn't make the cut.)
