I'll say it again that nobody covers a song like Nippy or Luffa.
Her debut was great for 80's standards but I wouldn't rank it in my top 3 Whitney albums.... that honor belongs to Preacher's Wife sdtk, I'm Your Baby Tonight and My Love.
Thanks for that live performance Her live performances were always her bread and butter. Aww *swoon* Stevie Wonder = EARTH
Prince = WIND Chaka Khan = FIRE Sade = WATER the ELEMENTS of MUSIC

every whitney thread or discussion I know you will be commenting on the end of good music.
Since music is so terrible and you have a great ear for good dance music, why don't create your own songs or put together a band?

Their version is from 1982 and it's a duet with David Simmons

I just found out that the Sister Sledge version is also a cover! the original was done by Linda Clifford in 1981:

I was about to say "no it's a Linda Clifford original." To be honest when I heard the Sister Sledge version I actually thought it sucked.

that song just kept getting passed around until it finally became a hit in 1990

I gotta admit,Whitney is really good at doing covers.Like Luther Vandross, she can sometimes make you forget the original version. With a few exceptions,I like every remake that she has done.

Her covers are quite good, yes. It's her own songs that I have a problem with, though....
