it was originally recorded by Marilyn McCoo in 1978:

Clive Davis was slick lol He picked songs that weren't big hits the first time around,so people would think that Whitney did it first.

Ima be honest I had no idea Whitney covered that lol

I had no idea Whitney had so many cover songs either

I'll say it again that nobody covers a song like Nippy or Luffa. biggrin

Her debut was great for 80's standards but I wouldn't rank it in my top 3 Whitney albums.... that honor belongs to Preacher's Wife sdtk, I'm Your Baby Tonight and My Love.

Thanks for that live performance music Her live performances were always her bread and butter. Aww *swoon* razz

Stevie Wonder = EARTH
Prince = WIND
Chaka Khan = FIRE
Sade = WATER

The beginning of the end of good music.

falloff every whitney thread or discussion I know you will be commenting on the end of good music.

Since music is so terrible and you have a great ear for good dance music, why don't create your own songs or put together a band?

Their version is from 1982 and it's a duet with David Simmons wink

I was about to say "no it's a Linda Clifford original." To be honest when I heard the Sister Sledge version I actually thought it sucked.

I gotta admit,Whitney is really good at doing covers.Like Luther Vandross,she can sometimes make you forget the original version.With a few exceptions,I like every remake that she has done.

Her covers are quite good, yes.

It's her own songs that I have a problem with, though.... razz
