I never cared a lot for Kurt Cobains voice and their musical 'palette' (they werent very original i think: Pixies + early REM = The Nirvana sound), but this song shows Cobain at least knew how to write a strong pop-song.

In Utero has been one of my favorite rock albums pretty much since it was released. Love this track. Definitely a fitting epitaph for the leader of one of the last great rock bands.

Yeah I think compared to Nevermind, it never gets the same props. Their debut, Bleach, was real good too.

I have always thought it to be miles better than Nevermind. Although I love NM it just doesn't stand up as well.

Serve the Servents is my personal favorite Nirvana song.

Nevermind is a bit slick for some people, but I think it actually holds up the best of those 3 albums. It's a nearly perfect collection of songs. I get that In Utero is more personal and raw, I don't think it hurts to put just a little makeup on someone for posterity smile

But at the time IN Utero was the album I connected with most.

Yeah lol I wonder if later on he would've identified himself as bisexual like Billie Joe Armstrong had he lived.

actually he did, sort of

He did an interview with The Advocate, and he said he'd probably be bisexual, but he just happened to fall in love with a woman.

He sure did. lol nod But Billie was steadfast that he was "bisexual and proud". lol I mean, his comment was more militant than Kurt's was. Kurt was more like "whatever, this is who I am, so uh yeah." lol

There's an interesting version by Herbie Hancock of "All Apologies", but I couldn't post it here via youtube. Maybe it's available only in the US.
