Very cool 60's inspired video! It's nice to see the baby tummy forcing Beyoncé to dress differently, because it's a nice change from the usual leotard get-up. It suits her perfectly while still flaunting her curves. I've never seen Beyoncé with a mid-length wig, but that look, together with the dress and make-up is stunning!! More mid-lenght wigs Bey!

I just remembered that lol . But that was a movie, I think she should wear more of those when she's "Beyoncé" too.

Is Beyonce's 'Countdown' Music Video Choreography Plagiarized?

(PacificCoastNews)

Beyonce (FlyNet Pictures)
There are quite a few references played out in the new music video for Beyonce Knowles' single "Countdown," some of them far more obvious than others.

The video's director, Adria Petty, explained to MTV, "I brought Beyoncé a number of references and we picked some out together. Most were German modern-dance references, believe it or not. But it really evolved."

Most fans will be able to pick up on the visual allusions to icons Audrey Hepburn, Diana Ross and Whitney Houston, but few would have noticed the shocking similarities between dance sequences in "Countdown" and the work of Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker were it not for the good old Internet.

This isn't the first time Beyonce's been accused of plagiarizing concepts: Earlier this year, eagle-eyed viewers noted that her Billboard Music Awards performance was strikingly similar to that of Italian pop star Lorella Cuccarini. It turned out that Knowles, inspired by Cuccarini's performance, had met with people on the other singer's creative team.

It doesn't sound like Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker had signed off on this sampling of her work, however. When contacted by a Danish blog, she said, "I didn't know anything about this. I'm not mad, but this is plagiarism. This is stealing. They took pieces from Achterland and Rosas danst Rosas. ... It's a bit rude, I must say. ... What's rude about it is that they don't even bother about hiding it. They seem to think they could do it because it's a famous work. ... Am I honored? Look, I've seen local school kids doing this. That's a lot more beautiful."

Check out the comparison. Beyonce has some explaining to do!

It's easy to compare.... and painfully clear it's copied...

I know Anne Theresa's work quite well and this is a pure copy.

Heard the song just once, but I find it very annoying. Guess I am the only one here.

"When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

Beyoncé's "Countdown" video plays up the singer's theatrical side. It pays homage to iconic films like "West Side Story" and "Funny Face," as well as '60s icons like the Supremes and Audrey Hepburn. The clip, co-directed by Adria Petty, is an eye-catching glimpse at the pop culture moments that reside in the creative conscience of the pop star.

While a lot of the video displays the singer's personality and spunk, as well as her ever-expanding baby bump, it's clear that Petty and her team worked hard to make sure they captured the spirit of the milestones they re-created in the video.

"I brought Beyoncé a number of references and we picked some out together. Most were German modern-dance references, believe it or not. But it really evolved," she told MTV News, calling it "an evolving, spontaneous process."

"The references were then dispersed to her creative team (hair, makeup, wardrobe), and they interpreted them on the set in their own special way. Of course, one of the strongest wardrobe references was Audrey Hepburn in 'Funny Face' when she does the beatnik dance scene. I think a lot grew from there," Petty continued.

Shot over the last few months in New York City warehouses, the shoot was all about being able to squeeze in all of her work commitments while also trying to finish the elaborately set video.

"The shoot was great. We had a number of brilliant dancers and musicians and a top-notch crew. Beyoncé brings in a number of her own people who are so hardworking. Our video was the fourth they had shot in five days," Petty said. "I love the creative team that works with Beyoncé because they can roll with anything and keep smiling. Everyone was really upbeat and excited because we all love the track and the opportunity to work with Beyoncé so much."

Now that I've read this article I wouldn't be so quit to yell how the video is plaigarized. We all sort of know that nothing is really original with Bey but there will always be something a little different from her even if it in 'inspired' as folks like to cover up.

O for God's sake - look at the video's posted... it's neary an exact copy. Under The Cherry Moon is inspired by movies from the 20s, Countdown flat out copies a choreography, the setting and the clothes. Sometimes it can be borderline this or that, but in this case it's a clear copy.

Her music is really hit and miss .....I've seen her live ...so i know she can sing to a point and she can dance the hell out all the current female artist out their apart from Janet of course....(no madonna is not a better dance or Shitney Spears)

But I really could not buy or even sit through a whole Beyonce album it would drive me crazy....

Would love her to make a album in Europe and move away for that very US..RnB..poppy sound...meh..

People point the finger at her but at this point, she pretty much has everything done for her. She just comes in and does what she does. She is not a video editor.

Whatever! I swear some folks will pick at scraps just get full.

There are different way to pay homage to people and by the sounds of it this Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker doesn't appreciate it. If she wants her work to be performed by school kids, then let it be. If I were Beyonce I wouldn't pay homage to none of them hoes. lol I love her but this is what she gets for always trying to honor the folks who could give a monkey doodle damn about her and don't even consider her work "work". Stick to your own stuff Bee, I'll appreciate it at the end of the day.

I want so hard to give Beyonce some kind of credit for her videos, but she keeps making it hard for me. I knew this was too good of a video of hers to be an original idea.
