Remember Idris Muhammad?? (This is a follow of Brother915's thread since it talks about Jazz musician)
He's def one of my fave drummers, a very underrated Jazz-Funk artist. He worked with important names like Larry Williams, Sam Cooke, Jerry Butler, the Impressions and Roberta Flack. His most notable work is the amazing "Black Rhythm Revolution" critics all agreed that it includes some of the funkiest jazz ever heard on record up until then. Its my fave record along with Kabsha.

Oh my goodness Harlepolis, what a thread boo!!! I was just gonna do a thread on him myself. Last year CTI Sony/Legacy reissued his 1974 funk/fusion/jazz masterwork called Power Of Soul that is totally awesome. It has been digitally remastered and all of that. This record is a must have. The second track on the record "Piece Of Mind" is one of the most beautiful pieces of music I'VE EVER HEARD in my life. This song ALONE is worth the price of admission.
When I heard this track on our jazz radio station here in Atlanta while cruising the streets on a Friday night... I literally had to stop and call the D.J and ask the name of artist and title of the song. Awesome piece!!! All 4 songs on this album is virgin TIGHT!!! I bet mistermaxx has this one. If you don't have it PLEASE get it. The song Power Of Soul" is a remake of Jimi Hendrix's song. But Idris funkdafied with his "in-the-pocket groove" drumming. The album features the great composing of Bob James and great saxophone work from the late but GREAT Grover Washington Jr. Also check out his master drumming on one of the greatest live albums of ALL TIME Grant Green's Alive!!! which was released in 1970. I'd be writing all day about this record. Get these two records and let me know what you think about em. I think the both of them are major stellar pieces of work. Some solid musicianship can be found on them for sure. Again GREAT thread Harlepolis!!! BRO915
