Omg, I had a house like remix of this song for the longest (it was one of my favorites) and I had no idea that it was originally by Simply Red. Well I be damned.
Thanks for posting this up today.

One of their best songs. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really donĀ“t like the idea that he could have it all."

Great song great band. Funny thing is that they did their "farewell tour" with only one original member? i think the farewell was said a bit earlier by the band. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

lol The band was a revolving one of members. Without Mick, it would've faded earlier than it did. But he left behind some great material nonetheless.

oh i agree i just thought it was hilarious and obviously a "commercial" title put on the tour to get people out. It was hilarious though they were doing it, but i guess mick felt no one really knew members anyway "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Allthough i think Mick Hucknall has a great voice, i feel like he (or his band) has never really furfilled his potential.
On Talking Book their still was an 'edge' to their music: it was a bit more raw sounding, and some of the lyrics where dealing with social issues.
But quickly after that their music became too 'easy listening' to my taste. Especially with the album Stars. Way too slick and unoffensive sounding music IMO. There is a reason why this was one of the best selling albums in Brittain ever...great Housewive music... lol
I am curious which route Hucknall will take now. I mean, I can see him going the 'Rod Stewart' route and delivering album after album of MOR-takes on soul and R&B-standards, but i rather see him teaming up with some raw live-band in the vein of The Dap Kings or The Caledonia orchestra (Van Morrisons background band in the seventies). He at least has the vocal props to carry that.

Saying Stars is housewife music is like saying Thriller by MJ is housewife music ..... Stars is a pop album .....What statements are in Thriller....none its POP???? ...... The stars album is about love or the identification of love.... that's it ...... Mick has never hidden his working class views or his politics.
The Classic POP song is hard to write because it sounds good today as it did when it came out ....it needs good lyrics ...good music....a brillant voice .....which Mick delivers !

Do you know my husband He bought me this record for Christmas present in 1991 but NO!!!! HELL NOT I didn't become his housewife that second or later. He has allways had better appetite for blue-eyed soul than I have... So I share your opinion of Mick Hucknall. Anyhow, me and my hubby still make a good couple and have two children.
