Herb Alpert feat. Janet--DIAMONDS

Flashback to the '80s with Herb, Jerome, TK Carter and two Janets--the imposter in the limo and the mini-me at the end...

Janet should've been credited for "Diamonds" at least, same with Lisa & Janet on "Making Love".

I believe Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam produced Herb's album. Another great dance track was

"Keep Your Eyez On Me'. music

They only did four songs on the record. I bought the album when it 1st came out and I got Whitney Houston's 2nd album at the same time. The 4th Jam & Lewis song is called Pillow and it's a duet with Herb and his wife Lani Hall.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

This is one JJ's most underrated songs. I still listen to it but I forgot how corny the video was

I always thought this was one of Janet's better vocal performances.

Her voice has definately changed throughout the years. Her "Control"-era vocals were strong and sharp, particularly on songs like Nasty and Control.

I love Diamonds, too.

Hey SEANMAN, do you recall Janet in an interview being asked about voice lessons/vocal coaches and improving her voice in general? I believe she replied something to the effect of, if you can sing, you sing. I grew up singing with my family all the time. In essence saying, I don't need or want one.

I think she might have took a negative connotation to the question instead of looking at it as something improving and maintaining the strength of ones voice.

I remember reading something about her saying she took vocal lessons in the past, but not being asked about it and responding offensively. I think she took them at the beginning of recording Control if I remember correctly.

They still are, it is just that she has not had any vocally challenging or natural vocal tunes handed to her...or even written any lately.
