Beyonce’s ‘Crazy In Love’ Tops Vh1′s ’100 Greatest Songs Of The ’00s’

At the end of the 2000-2009 period, Billboard named Mariah Carey’s ‘We Belong Together’ the Song of Decade and made her the only artist to capture the title twice. However, continuing the pattern of timely propaganda started earlier this year by the Billboard Music Awards, Vh1 has honored Beyonce with the accolade for her song ‘Crazy In Love’.

Interestingly, the record even ranked higher than OutKast’s monster hit ‘Hey Ya!’ and Eminem’s cult classic ‘Lose Yourself’. See the full Vh1′s ’100 Greatest Songs Of The ’00s’ list below, which also strangely includes an appearance from Lady Gaga’s relatively recent 2008 release, ‘Poker Face’, at #3:

It will be very interesting to see the grading system that the good people at Vh1 used to compile this list. It was definitely not developed in relation to the commercial success because Beyonce’s own ‘Baby Boy’ would have easily outranked ‘Crazy In Love’. Furthermore, unless the Vh1 executives quietly announced it without any promotion, there wasn’t any widespread indication of a poll being conducted for fans to vote for their favourite songs.

Hence, this is probably just another example of a media outlet being manipulated to promote an artist without any regards given to actual merit. Indeed, it is difficult to take this list seriously as Vh1 was the network that ranked Beyonce and Justin Timberlake higher than Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys, George Michael and Tupac on the list of ’100 Greatest Artists of All Time’ last year.

Show us the receipts Vh1.

To tell you the truth I rather see them compile a list of the baddest songs. This list of the greatest songs of the decade has no creditably at all. You can't take it seriously.

This list reminds me how much I loathed the early to mid 00s when it came to American pop music.

Of those top 100 of the decade, I'd say maybe 5 qualify as classics.

VHI is invested in airplay, which explains this otherwise ridiculous list

To be honest ''Crazy in Love'' really is a great song. I probably would have picked it as number one myself or ''Hey Ya'' by Outkast or ''Fallen'' by A.Keys

I agree with you about there 100 greatest artist list. Where was Janet? Where was R.Kelly?. Justin shouldn't even have been on the list

That list - ugh. Really - "milkshake" and "thong song"? Kelly Clarkson? Ugh. No wonder so many kids, the ones w/ a modicum of taste & wit, wish they lived in a different era.
