Maybe she will? depends on which songs she will do. She really likes to play the guitar.

I think the guitar-playing is cool but only when it's a song that has alot of guitar to begin with, like "Ray Of Light".The performance of that song on the Confessions Tour (with Madonna on guitar) was nothing short of spectacular. However,I don't like it when she turns a pop/dance tune into a loud rock number ("Borderline" on the Sticky and Sweet tour, for example). Some songs don't need alot of guitar.

So,unless she's gonna do one of her 'rockier' numbers, she should leave the guitar at home for this gig wink

I think I'm still sick of that awful BEP mess last year, what were they thinking? It will be interesting to see in the next 10 years or so when some of these "auto-tuned" singers will try to pull off these big events. Oh well, by then will anyone remember real singing or instruments anymore?

Best of luck to Madonna for the show but please don't hurt yourself out there!

I totally agree with the last comment. BEP is a corny ass pop group. They can't rap, can't sing, can't write songs, yet they sell records and are popular. I'm not against rappers performing at the halftime show, but they gotta have some caliber. Anybody other than Jay-Z or Eminem should not perform.

Up until last year's halftime act, I thought the NFL had a good strategy going, by choosing veteran rock acts to play the gig. Even if you don't like rock music at all, it's much better than seeing someone prance with tons of dancers and electro lights and effects trying not to run out of breath before the first chorus is sung.

Madonna At The Super Bowl: 7 Songs We Hope She Plays

by Ann Powers

Posted Image
She's tough enough. Here Madonna is on stage during the Blonde Ambition tour in 1990.

Blockbuster entertainment just got better, or at least could be for at least one 30-minute stretch in February. After two years of Super Bowl halftime performances that earned mostly boos — The Who's faltering attempt to rock out in 2009 and The Black Eyed Peas' typically ADHD-inducing routine in 2010 — a take-charge woman might be moving in to tidy up the place. Nothing has been confirmed yet, but Madonna is reportedly in talks with the NFL to play the halftime show.

Doubters might question Madonna's ability to be family-friendly, or the wisdom in bringing her estrogen-powered hits into a testosterone-fueled environment like Indianapolis's Lucas Oil Stadium. But Madonna was born (or self-invented, anyway) to play the Super Bowl.

Our Lady of Platinum and Corsets is the most competitive player in the history of American music — an up-by-the-bra-straps Horatio Alger who's consistently worked to have the biggest crossover hits, the most elaborate tours, the most attention-getting videos and the tightest abs in pop. Since the 1980s, she's eaten steamed vegetables out of Tupperware to stay in fighting form when she could have dined on caviar every night. And she loves sports!

Sure, Madonna's taste runs to athletic pursuits that aren't the most conventional: parkour, yoga, feminist boxing. But her fighting spirit will serve her well on that awkward mid-field stage, making her appearance the most Super Bowl-appropriate in years. Here's a playlist of Madonna songs that would perfectly fit the halftime show.

Madonna Super Bowl Playlist Wishlist

Holiday
One day a year Americans come together to eat chips and dip, drink carbonated beverages and yell at a television. In these divided times, it's important to cling to our secular holidays, and Madonna's 1983 hit sets the mood.

Borderline
Football is a sport of lines, border and otherwise. As we cheer for every first down, this 1984 classic will help the Packers and the Patriots (or the Redskins and the Chargers, or....you tell me) keep on pushing.

Keep It Together
Sports is more exciting when things start to fall apart. That doesn't always happen in the Super Bowl. Mismatches and flat-out slaughters are common. On the off chance that this is a competitive, exciting game, we recommend this funk cut from Madonna's groundbreaking 1989 album Like A Prayer, which is a great rallying cry for an ace team under stress.

This Used to Be My Playground
It's highly doubtful that Madonna will perform any ballads during her possible Indianapolis extravaganza. If she should choose to bring the mood down for a minute, though, an excerpt from this 1992 ballad would be quite appropriate. It's the theme song from her own sports movie — the femme baseball biopic A League of Their Own -- and, with its wistful tone, captures the melancholy, Friday Night Lights side of the gridiron.

Ray of Light
"And I feel like I just got home ..." Madonna's 1998 ode to yoga bliss may seem a bit hippie-dippy for end zone dances, but with William Orbit's intelligent dance beats behind her, Madge transforms a meditation on self-acceptance into a kick-ass rallying cry. I want to see somebody do a touchdown dance to this.

Jump
The video for this inspirational track from the 2006 album Confessions on a Dance Floor features parkour, the French street dance/sport that Madge also incorporated into her subsequent tour. Running backs might consider some of the moves invented by these streetwise Euro dudes to get through the line.

4 Minutes
Inviting Justin Timberlake to cameo during a Super Bowl spectacle is certainly a risk. But Madonna's not one to brook any slips, nipple or otherwise (in the video, Justin relieves Madge of nothing more than a harmless belt). And what more could a pigskin-preoccupied American want than a game in which any given four minutes really matter? Bring it!

As if. Janet wouldn't make it past security at the Superbowl. I don't think they'd even let her sit in the audience to watch the show.

Madonna May Rescue Us From Dull Super Bowl Halftime Shows!

Posted Mon Oct 3, 2011 8:43am PDT by Caryn Ganz in Amplifier

Since Janet Jackson turned the 2004 Super Bowl halftime show into a peep show, the NFL has been famously conservative when hiring musical entertainment. For the following six years, the Super Bowl played it safe with so-called "heritage acts": Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, and the Who. That's a lot of dudes over 50 -- no women, no dancing, no risks. Last year the NFL ventured back into pop music with the Black Eyed Peas, and their multimedia spectacle mostly fizzled. But according to SBNation, they're willing to give it another go for Super Bowl XLVI with the Queen of Pop herself, Madonna.

Sources tell SBNation Madonna will finally play the Super Bowl at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis on February 5th after a series of previous misfires -- she was rumored to be the halftime entertainment for both Super Bowl XXXIII and XXXV, but the deals never materialized. The booking makes perfect sense since the Super Bowl audience is the largest on television and Madonna's recent Sticky & Sweet Tour was the highest-grossing trek in history for a solo act. She's over 50, which seems to be a requirement (we can't see the NFL taking a risk with a young pop sensation like Lady Gaga at this point). Madonna is also in the studio finishing sessions for the follow-up to 2008's Hard Candy, due spring 2012, and has said a single will arrive in February. Also: She's Madonna.

A spokesperson for the NFL declined to comment for SBNation's story and The Amp is awaiting a response from Madonna's publicist. In the meantime, we're plotting out a possible set list -- hopefully Madonna would skip a dreadful medley in favor of playing three or four of her biggest hits along with her new single. This could be seriously awesome -- hopefully nobody derails this possible development with a mega-size delivery of hydrangeas or something!

She should invite Justin to sing "4 Minutes" with her,and then at the end of the song,a special guest comes out: Janet Jackson! The three of them get undressed and have a threesome right there onstage, then give the 'middle finger' to the audience as they walk offstage

nod His halftime show was spectacular, it's what made me start to look at his albums rather than just own his greatest hits. IMO he had the only good show this decade besides Janet.
