Vesta Williams' Death Confirmed By Coroner
On behalf of the network, Toni Judkins, executive vice president, original programming and production at TV One, expressed deepest condolences to Vesta's family and friends. "We are saddened by Vesta's tragic passing but are honored that she had been working with TV One on a new episode of ‘Unsung,' which is scheduled to air early next year," Judkins said via statement. "Vesta's ‘Unsung' will contain footage from her last performance, and in all probability, her final in-depth interview. It was an enriching experience for our team to spend time with such a dynamic performer and an amazing woman. We will do our best to pay tribute to her in a way that most fits her tremendous contributions to music."
Williams was excited about being selected to appear on the program says Keith O'Derek, a filmmaker, television producer and friend of the artist who performed with Sting, Chaka Khan, and Gladys Knight. "I went to pick her up a couple weeks ago and we were going out to lunch and to run some errands and she said, ‘I don't know if I told you, TV One did an interview on me for ‘Unsung.' I'm so excited, finally somebody is going to recognize me.'"
O'Derek said Williams also made a comment about the timing of the taping. "'They're doing it before I die. I'm so glad. Hopefully, I can get some work out of it, and keep on gigging.'" O'Derek said Williams had expressed interest in doing voiceover work, and more acting. She previously appeared in the Mario Van Peebles movie "Posse" and on the television sitcom "Sister, Sister "It's not nice to fuck with K.B.! All you haters will see!" - Kitbradley
