Upcoming Madonna album offers plenty of surprises

Chicago reps for Universal Music Group claim Madonna is set to release her new album next spring. There is no album title yet, but one of the album’s strongest tracks is said to be a song called “Trust,” which was either co-written or co-produced with Sia. It is said to be like “Live to Tell,” but ten times better.

Jim Steinman, one of the producers originally set for the album, is no longer on board. Instead, William Orbit and Jean Baptiste Kouame are producing a lion’s share of the album. Madonna is also very involved and is writing and producing some tracks all by herself. Industry insiders see this album as a milestone for Madonna in the same degree “Like a Prayer” and “Ray of Light” were.

Madonna’s 2012 tour is being planned as we speak and it will be different from previous tours. Jamie King, Madonna’s long-time tour collaborator, will no longer be involved. Stay tuned for more information.

The second I found out she was working with Sia I had a gay panic attack. I'm very excited to hear Trust. My hopes are pretty damn I high for this album.

If there's one thing I despise, it's people saying "[insert new unheard track] sounds like [insert classic/knockout/monumental/smash hit], but is '100x better'!!" There's no coming back from that lol. Expectations are already high. Superstars don't need that kinda hype.

The best news from that report is that she won't be working with Jamie King again lol I like him and the work he did on the previous tours but I think it's time for a change. The new tour needs to be NEW,fresh and bold, and totally unlike the other tours. It might even be a good idea to get rid of the "4 different themes" idea and present the show in a whole new way.

I think it would be good to change the director also. But I don't really have a problem with the 4 themes setup. It's done for a reason. It's based around her costume changes. I don't think people want Madonna to do the whole concert with the same outfit the whole time. On the other hand, you can't have too many costume changes because then she would be off stage too many times and the audience would get bored. The problem wasn't so much the 4 sections, but that maybe the actual themes weren't that imaginative and she could do more different songs instead of repeating the same songs like ROL. Music, La Isla Bonita.

From the shows I saw on TV, it definitely looked stale, she's been needing an upgrade for a long ass time now. lol

I just think that, after 4 tours in a row with this concept (the 4 themes/sections),it's time for something else.Sticky And Sweet was a satisfying show for the most part, but I think it's time to try a new approach. Many fans will disagree with me,but I'd like a show that is "less theatrical".Focus more on the music.Have no more than 4 dancers,a REAL band with a funky bassist, and two backup singers that are actually a part of the show (like Nikki and Donna used to be).

And how about bringing out some songs that aren't overplayed? I'm talking about stuff like "Angel","Dress You Up","Justify My Love","Causing A Commotion",etc.

Now that's what I'm talkin' bout!! lol I'm tired of the techno-ized "reinventions" of classic songs.I want her to use a REAL band...remember that awesome band she had on the Girlie Show?? Bring em' back!! lol Listening to Wendy Melvoin's funky guitar licks on "She's Not Me" and that funky bassline on "Dance 2Nite" makes me wish that Madonna would go that route on her tours.Get up there with a band of funk musicians and make the songs SIZZLE!

her voice was awesome on RIT and the live bits of CT were also good for the most part.

i know she hates his guts but her tours were the best when her brother directed them. Bring C. Ciccone back if he can put down the 8 ball for a couple of months.

also - what about Pat Leonard, Jai Winding (sp?), whomever did the vocal arrangements for the Girlie Show (Niki?) - come on madonna, get your dream team back...leave Arianne Phillips, Jamie King, Guy O out of the creative decisions!

This is exciting! It's funny, although I was a late teen/young adult when Madonna first presented, her stuff was so played out that I tired of those "classic" hits and didn't buy any of the respective albums from which these "hits" were culled. When "Frozen" dropped, I was so blown away by the new (at that time) techno-ish direction that I've been buying her CD's since then consistently. I'm hoping for another religious experience a la "Ray of Light."

Additionally, I was at a CD store back in '98 and this blonde chick was up on the video screen in the store performing a new song called "Ray of Light." I thought it was Sheryl Crow! LOL! I had NO IDEA that Madonna could sound so fresh, new and inviting. I was THRILLED! To THIS DAY, that song remains an all-time favorite of mine. The video is outRAGEOUSLY creative and like nothing I've ever seen! smile

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

If Chris Ciccone is still on that stuff, Mads can forget about rehiring him...

I would just love it if she really made an effort to go for an intimate more storylike show. Something like Blonde Ambition. I love the idea of bringing back the backup vocalists to the stage and a real top notch live band. I love her every tour, but something fresh would be thrilling.

Songs I'd die to see her bring back.

Express Yourself

Till Death do us Part (Maybe freshen it up to relate to Guy)

Burning Up

Open Your Heart

Bedtime Story

Don't Tell Me

Secret

Beautiful Stranger

Yep,I agree.Back in the day,Donna and Nikki played a huge role in the show and it was great seeing the three of them singing together. On some of the recent tours, you can't even really see the backup singers and their role is minimalized. This goes back to what I said earlier....I'd like for the show to be more focused on the music, the band and the backup singers, instead of being so "theatrical".

Yes, I agree she should have a live band, less dancers and be less theatrical and do some lesser played songs. But what does that have to do with the four sections? Even with a live band and less theatrics, I would still like her to change costumes. I like how the costumes work with a theme. People fixate on the 4 sections, but really she should change the substance of what's in the sections, not the four sections themselves.

It's possible to change costumes without dividing the show into thematic sections.Cher and Diana Ross are also known for numerous costume changes but their shows don't rely on thematic sections.I think this was a cool idea at first, but isn't it time for something new? A fresh, new way of presenting her music to her fans? I liked the Sticky and Sweet tour but I just wonder how many times can she do a tour like that.I'd rather for Madonna to find a kickass band, two excellent backup singers (maybe bring back Donna and Nikki),possibly a horn section (as Badujunkie suggested) and get out there and KICK ASS! If the songs are done properly, she won't need all the other distractions. She won't need themes, gimmicks and Broadway excesses.Present the show in the round and watch the fans lose their minds!

Something else: without the thematic sections,I think she would be able to be more adventurous with the setlist. She won't have to ignore songs from her catalog that don't "fit" one of the four sections.Any song could be performed.

I hate when people say that type of shit. Hell I think Get Together is 10x better than Live To Tell..what the heck that's supposed to mean?

Anyway I am excited about this album and will not be comparing anything when I listen.

She did say Pharrell made her cry during the recording process. I remember one report where he said he was trying to get her to sound really young on her vocals and they got into it...

here was one:

The N*E*R*D frontman has confessed that he brought tears to the eyes of the Queen of Pop when they were working together on her recent album Hard Candy. More than that, in fact, he made her "cry like a baby".

"We were alone recording the album and she kept talking a lot of rubbish, so I shouted a lot of rubbish and she started crying her eyes out," Pharrell told ShortList magazine.

"I just said some really nasty stuff, I guess. And yeah, she cried. She cried for a long time, actually. To be honest, I can't believe she told someone about it. The whole situation was quite intense. It's totally weird to make Madonna sob, but even stranger when she tells everyone, 'Pharrell made me cry.'"
