Madonna issues a statement about her controversial "American Life" video

From http://www.madonna.com

Statement from Madonna on "American Life"

"I feel lucky to be an American citizen for many reasons - one of which
is the right to express myself freely, especially in my work.

I understand that there have been reports about my upcoming video
"American Life" in the media - much of which is inaccurate. I am not
Anti-Bush. I am not pro-Iraq. I am pro Peace. I have written a song and
created a video
which expresses my feelings about our culture and values and the
illusions of what many people believe is the American dream - the
perfect life. As an artist, I hope that this provokes thought and
dialogue. I don't expect everyone to agree with my point of view. I am
grateful to have the freedom to express these feelings and that's how I
honor my country."

They're saying that the video will premiere in mid-March,and that's IF the video channels decide to air it.The CD is due around April 26.

Yeah. Here's Madonna's statement:

"Hello world! Remember me? I'm Madonna. I will not let you forget me and will do whatever it takes to stay in the news. Like releasing a "controversial" video that won't get played on cable, so I can release it as a rip-off DVD single and rake in the cash. Whoops, I already did that. Anyway, buy my new album, and remember I "record" for $1,000 an hour, if anyone's interested. I specialize in role-playig. For he past 20 years, I've been pretending to be an artist.

Oh yeah, about the war. I'll release my pro-American video as soon as it becomes commercially viable. You know I've been pretending to be British lately so I don't really care about the US anyway."

At least she is speaking her mind! I'm no fan of celebs talking politics but I just read an article by Ann Coulter (whom I despise) bashing them for being anti-war. Of course, if they were pro-war, I'm sure it would have been a whole other story! She also exaggerated things about the video highly, saying it featured dying Iraqi babies. I hate Ann Coulter. What a war whore!

I realize that a Madonna's new video (like videos in the past) seems to be all about using shock value to sell CDs. Could be worse. She could be holding her kids off the Evita balcony for attention. He-he. That should get some people's attention in this club.

I don't know why this video is already being labeled controversial. The last time Madonna had a 'controversial' video was "What it Feels Like For A Girl". And we all know how tame that turned out to be.

It's just Madonna's way of marketing herself. The public knows by now that Madonna works hard to make people think she's controversial. In reality, there's nothing at all controversial about Madonna. She's a married mom in her mid-40s with two kids, a hubby, and nice mansions. There's nothing controversial about that so she has to release statements designed to generate controversy.
