Eh, for me it is much too over the top and cheesy to be considered "one of the absolute best songs of all time, without question" but that's just me.

This is a beautiful song, but not even in the top 100 best songs of all time, in my opinion.

I think a lot depends on taste.

Put on any classic rock or oldies station, and prepare to hear song after song after song that is leaps and bounds better than this.

It's what I imagine Bon Jovi non-single album cuts to sound like. Not bad, but very MOR heart fm sounding.

I want to agree with you but smarmy was the first word that came to mind. I am not a professional music critic. There came a time when the risk of remaining tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. Anais Nin.

You being a fan of rock like me i must ask, what do you think of Firehouse?
I can not stand them, they are one of the late 80's early 80's hair bands i tried to like but the cheese is to overflowing lol Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

They are a bit too slick and formulaic for my tastes. Their music is very clean and polished which isn't necessarily what I look for in a rock band. I guess that "Don't Treat Me Bad" is an ok song but they really seemed to specialise in ballads and their uptempo songs were not very memorable. Of course it seemed like every rock band of that era had a hit with a ballad but you usually only had to endure one or two of them and the rest of the album was hard rock. Firehouse always seemed a little too heavy of the sappy ballads.
Firehouse are a bit of an oddity. Stylistically they do kind of fit with the "eighties" bands but they came along a little after the scene had peaked and had started to fade. I do give them credit for having success at a time when that type of music was rapidly falling out of fashion but ultimately I would much rather listen to the Kiss song "Firehouse" than the band Firehouse.
