When I had Windows XP as my OS, my favorite software drum machine was FL Studio. It's actually a software studio gear that is not a closed format like Reason. But anyway, I used to use Linn & Roland drum machines samples inside FL Studio and made some good beats. For myself, FL Studio was a great affordable option since my budget never allow me to buy a Akai MPC.

Since my switch to Linux Mint, I had to settle with LMMS (a FL Studio rip-off) & Hydrogen as my software drum machines. I'm still trying to get the hang of both of them!
