Beyonce has been making the media rounds to promote her new PULSE fragrance as well as highlighting some of her other business ventures. In addition to her appearance in Dream Downtown last evening, the singer also spoke to Associated Press about her plans to launch her own label as well as a boy band.

Beyonce: Balance. I am still working on balance and still growing. I am starting my company, my label. I want to create a boy band. I want to continue to produce and do documentaries and music videos. I eventually want to start directing for other artists. Once I know that I have my stuff together and I trust that, I can do it for other artists.

I see so many male artists building these empires and passing their knowledge on to other artists and development. I see myself doing the same thing and hopefully other younger artists when they grow up and they have been around for 15, 20 years, they can do the same thing.

Beyonce is certainly a shrewd business woman and it’s endearing to see her following in the footsteps of other female media moguls such as Madonna and Mariah Carey. However, I hope she doesn’t create a boy band that follows the model of Destiny’s Child where only one member got attention and the chance to grow.

Interesting. We'll have to see if all this happens or not. Whether all these plans actually come to fruition or is just her talking about what she'd like to do remains to be seen.

I wish she'd take some time off and have her family and chill out for a minute. Seems every other week she's issuing a press release for some venture or project. Even the anoouncement of her pregnancy was timed to coincide with an awards show.

Is her son gonna be the centerpiece of the group?

I agree, but it seems like Beyonce really wants to stay in the limelight. Just this week alone I've seen lots of articles about her making appearances and talking about her pregnancy, her new perfume and her future business plans. Its obvious she's going to work the PR machine for her pregnancy and childbirth, she's not planning to retire out of the limelight anytime soon.

She's such an attention hog. Sony is going to give her a vanity label and she's going to sign a nondescript boy band. Big deal. What's next, a live birth DVD?

You know when the baby is here she and Jay will be parading it around at every function. The Grammys, The BET Awards, The VMAs, the AMAs, in interviews, the 40/40 club, House of Deréon launches...

It's sad to me that both Beyonce and Jay-Z are such attention whores. Jay-Z hasn't added anything to the rap game with his out of retirement CDs and Beyonce is still just an overpaid booty shaker. Neither of them needs the cash so it has to be the limelight!

yea Bey needs to hide out kinda like Mariah did....

Now, I love me some beyonce. i've been to 2 concerts of hers and 1 with DC (see how i seperated the two, LOL) but it just seems like she can't get out the spotlight and IM TIRED OF IT!!! She's making our relationship turn into a love/hate thing.

Yeah ain't that something? As diva-ish Mariah can act sometimes, I do give her props for knowing when to sit her ass down out of the limelight to take time out for her pregnancy and to give birth...(and to probably exercise 12 hours a day to get rid of the baby fat)
