Latoya Jackson - I Don't Play That

This song kicks the ass of everything Janet's released in the last 10 years.

"I don't play that" is what everyone says about LaToya's music.

I'm waiting for her concept album, movie and museum based off of her brother's "murder". She's nothing but a vulture.

Totally confused: which album is this song from??.. I bought her Starting Over album on iTunes a couple of weeks ago, and it has 7 songs in all, none of which is this one. It says it was released June 21 2011. hmmm

I'm sure there's a simple answer to this, which yet totally evades me! lol

'Just Wanna Dance' (one of the 7) is terribly, infectiously catchy by the way, love it!

Ok, I just checked: it was released in 2007.

And it's not on sale on iTunes, neither on Amazon, nor on her own official website!.. wt?!.. mad

It came out when she did that flop reality show Armed and Famous, it was based around the theme of that. I LOVE the song though that was a funny joke lol

Thanks for the info wink. I love it too, as well as other songs I found on YouTube under that same album cover but that are not on the Starting Over album itself, so I guess they might be from that period too. No matter what she did, all the scandals and flops, etc, I love her style, and the songs are quite upbeat/cheerful, even when it's hurtful memories/experiences she is singing about. It's a real boost of energy, very inspiring! biggrin

Though she's not a great vocalist and I don't buy her music, I like her a lot too and she has some really good gems. I like some cuts from her first two albums, a couple more from the late 80's and several from the 00's. LOVE No More Drama, it makes me think of Janet and it's about her abusive relationship. I also love how quirky and animated she is in interviews, far from boring, even if I don't always agree with how she behaves at times. I think she is a good person. I'm a way bigger fan of Janet, but Latoya interviews are better.

Yes, that's exactly the vibe I get from many of her songs too - 'quirky and animated', a certain cheerfulness, even when it's about her painful past. I wonder how she does it even, how she can sing about all this with so much positive energy. I guess it may mean she has healed, which is all good. biggrin

I love Janet for her voice chiefly, even if people who actually know something about vocals/singing usually don't describe her voice as having anything special [at least from what I've read online..].

I find it incredibly sweet, fluid and soothing. I can't help think of it as 'the ideal maternal voice'. I wish some mothers had that sweet voice when they talk to their kids, instead of screaming at them... Anyway, for me, she has the sweetest voice in the industry that I know of.

And I should have written this diatribe on Janet in a Janet thread!.. lol
