Neil Young Releasing Autobiography Next Year
September 23, 2011
Neil Young is the latest A-list rock star to decide to write a memoir: His book Waging Heavy Peace will hit shelves in the fall of 2012. "I felt like writing books fit me like a glove," Young said in a statement. "I started and I just kept going. That's the way my Daddy used to do it on his old Underwood up in the attic. He said, 'Just keep writing, you never know what will turn up.'" The book is being published by Blue Rider Press, a new imprint of Penguin.
"This promises to be a revealing, intimate book that will provide the window into Neil's life and career that fans and admirers have always wanted," said Blue Rider President David Rosenthal.
Young's father Scott Young was as prominent sports journalist in Canada. In 1984 he published Neil And Me, which chronicled his sometimes turbulent relationship with his son.
In 2003, Jimmy McDonough released Shakey: Neil Young's Biography, based around extensive interviews the writer conducted with Young, his family, friends and numerous bandmates. Despite the access that Young provided, he later sued McDonough in an attempt to stop the book's publication. Legal wrangling held up publication of the book for three years.
Young joins a long list of rock stars – including Eric Clapton, Keith Richards and Steven Tyler – who have released memoirs in recent years.

I'm not trying to be mean but he's NOT really one of those stars who's autobio's you really care to read about. There's only 5 antobio's I want to read
1. Prince (I want to know about his childhood, his famous ex's, the stories behind some of his songs, the problems with bandmates and other celebs, and how he got over his child's death)
2. Janet Jackson (I want to know if joe abused her, what happen in her marrige to James, and what went doen between her and Tina)
3. R.Kelly (I want to know if the abuse rumors in his childhood are true, his marrige to Aaliyah, and the child porn trial)
4. Kim Mathers (I want to read her side to the whole Eminem saga)
5. Madonna (I want to read her point of view on her marrige to Sean Peen, her famous ex's and her feuds with other stars)

It's not being mean, if you're not a fan of his music, it wouldn't appeal to you as much as the names you mentioned.
I don't see Madonna writing a book until she's old. Prince is too guarded to write a memoir.
Janet already wrote a book.
Kim gets enough money from Eminem to not have to write a book.

I hope your right about Madonna. I've been a fan for years and I want to read her views and versions of her past. Janet's book was a self help. I want to read her life story but she'll peobably wait till she's old and gray like Madonna
I just want Kim to tell her side of the madness. Em always makes her look like a bitch.
Prince's book would be a best seller but he is too guarded and probably wouldn't tell the truth anyway lol | |
