After recuperating from throat surgery R. Kelly is apparently ready to get back into the studio.

The singer went on 107.5 WGCI's The Morning Riot radio show in Chicago today [September 15] to announce the title of his next album, Black Panties.

In his first interview since the surgery, the singer claimed that the forthcoming album will be better than his classic solo debut album 12 Play (1993).

In the interview, R. Kelly talked about going under the knife, "Hell yeah it was really scary," said Kellz. "I thought I had a cold but I had like a cyst as big as a golfball on my tonsils."


When asked about the R&B artists he considers to be the next up, the veteran singer/songwriter/producer mentioned Trey Songz and shared how much respect he has for Chris Brown.

"I know Trey Songz is a guy that if he keeps with the hits and he humble himself a bit more he will be one of the runners up," Kelly shared. "Chris Brown is already there as far as I'm concerned because he's a humble guy. Chris Brown used to come to my studio when he was 13, 14, 15, and 16 and he learned a lot from that. I used to lecture him all the time… I'll tell you one thing. I got the utmost respect for Chris Brown and I'll tell you why. He got in the studio, he did what he was supposed to do and he bounced back like a round ball."

In addition to the sultry title reveal, Kellz also announced that he would release the first single off the album "10 Minutes," very soon.

This guy is pathetic. See why others and I can't comprehend with him? Coming off the heels of one of his inspired projects (Love Letter) and now this???

He wrote the best tribute song for anybody ever heard "I Believe I Can fly" for Michael Jordan, then turn around & wrote "Feelin on ur Booty" after that. Prince use to be the same type of artist. Yeah, I don't think I'll be interested in this album. Although, I honestly haven't been interested in an R. Kelly album since R.. Every song and every album has sounded the same since then (haven't heard Love Letter yet), and just when I thought he couldn't possibly come up with a worse title than Untitled.....

Are you really shock he went back to this? This is a signature for him now lol especially with the younger crowd he not going to leave that but I do agree that he should have evolved after his recent album too old.

Least that shit was funky. He did "Masochistic Beauty" which I love dearly. It's just that R. Kelly's sex songs are dumb as hell.
