Since i've been on the subject of Sly Stone lately, i've come to the conclusion that Mike learned from him vocally more so than anything else of him.

Sly songs like Keep On Dancing, you can hear the "Dah" and "Ah" vox effects after a few words ala "Now you can't touch me, Dah..." on that Unbreakable song. Songs like You Can Make It If You Try sound almost identical vocally to MJ in tracks like Enjoy Yourself.

The other thing i found interesting was learning Mike wanted to work with Sly on his new album....perhaps one of them VERY, very rare moments i'm onboard with a choice made by MJ in his later music life. Would of been interesting.

I was surprised too, can't say I was "floored" though, but surprised. I guess because you can hear a slightly deeper-voiced Mike on 'You Rock My World', as already mentioned. And realistically speaking, wouldn't it be a physiological deficiency of some sorts, if a 50-year-old man had such a feminine and childlike voice...or even a 30-year-old, a 40-year-old. I totally buy the all-part-of-an-image explanation.

I feel like I got a bit of an essence of the "true" Michael Jackson, reading old Ebony interviews with him from the 80's. He projects such a determination and a powerful drive in his answers, something that didn't come across (at least not in his later life) gentle "lamb-like" image.

Google Books has most Ebony mags for free...you can even download them as PDFs for your iPad2, provided you have the right software...I know I did.

I would add Diana Ross to that list, his ballads like Gone Too Soon have lots of resemblance to her. As for taking care of Sly, i'm sure he cared, but...how when he owned his work, rumour had it Sly refused them back...? Only thing i can think of is handling his music well and asking to work with him before he died which would of financed him for the rest of his life.

It's been said he was going to give Sly the publishing back (They're not part of Sony/ATV but merged with Michael's personal catalogue) like he gave Little Richard his publishing back on his 70th birthday

I don't know why... but just that alone has deeply disturbed me about MJ. Like I dunno... he was a little off.... ya know? Not trying to be disrespectful.... just truly bewildered.

No one can say for sure - and it's all conjecture - but perhaps it was MJ's way of dealing with his persona and having something private. As in, perhaps with everything so public knowledge with MJ he deicided to partition his life to "stage" MJ and "real" MJ. The MJ in the press etc was the persona, he put on the face mask, talks in a softer voice and voila. He might have kept his more natural speaking voice for those that knew the person not the persona.

That said - often in concert when he did speak he would be a more natural tone.

It seems to me that most all of the Jacksons are soft-spoken people. But speaking as a naturally soft-spoken person, if I'm feeling shy or awkward, my tone can be even softer. Also, my voice is very high, naturally, but if I'm very angry it can become deeper than normal. It's not anything I practice, it just happens. I think with Michael, its possible that he exaggerated his soft tone and it just became second nature. I'm sure it was part of his "act" as performers are actors and like their make-up, they take it off when they get home.

Unfortunately that's just a rumor on a forum with nothing to back it up. Still, I can't wait for new music. I don't really care about reissues (unless there's new songs included) or Tour DVDs.. MJ's albums don't need remastered.. they sound great as they are; We already have enough Hits collections; and full length Bad Tour shows are already circulating on the internet - sure they're not perfect quality, but they're still there.

I am excited about the Immortal Soundtrack, though. I love The Beatles' "Love" CD, so I'm hoping that the MJ CD will be as good or better... and hopefully rumors are true, and there'll be a new song or two included

I don't know if we need anymore Greatest Hits, unless it's got a new twist. But speaking of videos, I was watching the Motown 25 performance today and I'm beginning to think I like the intro more than when he breaks into the moonwalk. The beginning is very climatic, I was holding my breath just like I was the first time I ever saw it, even though I've seen this a gazillion times. I like how the band is jammin to the record. This video makes me feel really good.

La Toya claimed that mother Katherine encouraged her to perform in Wales instead of appearing in court.

"In speaking with my mother yesterday, I asked her where she thinks Michael would rather have us be - in this courtroom filled with negativity and lies, or on a stage celebrating his music, his legacy and his life," she explained.

"She said without a second of thought, 'Celebrating his life with family and fans'. I am looking forward to putting on a great show and making my brother proud."

lol, i feel like we do need more concert dvds.. Excpessially The Victory Tour, they should DEFFINITALLY release Dallas and Kansas City. as Well as a few bad shows (wembley, Tokyo, others) and some dangerous tours besides bucarest.. we already have TONS of High Quality HIStory footage, but i also think they should release more this is it footage.. idk i guess im just a concert dvd nut, lol
