When did Mariah stop recording? Doesn't she always release two different versions of an album? One comes out, then two months later is the "Super Duper Deluxe Edition With Never Before Heard Remixes With The Rapper Of The Week". lol

Well it's been a little while since her last proper album, and even longer since her last great album.

Her last album bombed badly so no one remembers it that much unless you're a hardcore fan.

Anita's album should be out by next year.

She already had some sort of comeback album a few years ago, and i've heard a track from it which imo was inspired by her classic sound.

Not sure how successful that project was but she kept on performing here and there.

Hell, I'm content with AN ALBUM comeback or not, I just want these broads out and about again. Baby fingers is still performing and doing seminars, but I need an album from her.

In fact, a collaboration between the two in the same vein as Joe Sample & Lalah Hathaway would be grand.

I had the pleasure of meeting Patrice Rushen after a show with Lee Ritenour and Melvin Davis back in 2008. It was a very brief encounter but she was lovely.

If you're referring to "Simply Red" as a band, then it's unfortunately not going to happen. Mick Hucknall has officially disbanded the group and is now concentrating on being a solo artist. He says he'll release his new album next year and that it sounds nothing like his old stuff. I saw Simply Red in concert last year on the steps of the Sydney Opera House and it was amazing. BTW, there's a CD/DVD of the show if you're interested:

You can get it on iTunes too.

Lauryn Hill - of course:) I think she performed earlier this year in NY, but just her own classics, no new material/songs I've heard. Still, I wish I had gone!..

Also: Neneh Cherry - as a solo act [I hear she has a new band now, called cirKus, but I preferred her solo]

And I liked her brother too, Eagle-Eye Cherry - his last album was in 2007, and then nothing... sad. sad

Shirley Murdock released a Gospel album a few years ago. It was decent.

Here was the hit from it.

Well, if you mean it's been a while since she's done a good album, I don't agree. I really enjoyed her Christmas album last year.

Not to mention, she has a new song on the Tony Bennett Duets II cd. So, Mariah has not stopped releasing or recording music.

Yeah Mick decided Simply Red's run after 25 years was perfect to finally close the chapter plus he had a lot of obligations solo-wise that he always wanted to do. I think for a period he participated in performing in a reunion set with most of the Faces (including Ron Howard) last year. Don't know what he's planning on now but it should be interesting.

I thought it was an ok effort, just not great. I think she's content doing an occasional tour and not recording.

That's what it seems like to me too. nod I noticed after all that shit she went through between 1999 and 2003, she seemed more content in raising her sons in the way she almost couldn't with her daughters (but she did the best she could in that department too) and now she's a grandma so yeah I can see why she would rather just do an occasional tour now.

She also did some background vocals on Michael Jackson's Behind The Mask that was released not long ago. You can hear her clearly at the end of the song.

1. New Edition

-- No more Bell Biv Devoe/Heads Of State bulllshit! I want all 6 members of N.E. as a unified unit, plain and simple.

2. The Spice Girls

-- Yes, there was a 2008 Greatest Hits/Reunion album and tour. But only 2 new tracks were even done, the best of the two (Voodoo) was NEVER release as a single. I strongly believe a new comeback album of all new dance-pop tracks in 2012 would be great if all 5 members are committed (Victoria is rumored to be the only hold out due to her full-time "retirement" from the music industry).

3. Taylor Dayne

4. Anastacia

-- Since the death of Teena Marie, there has been a void in the "white female with soul sista vocals" department. Only an interesting comeback success by Taylor or Ana can fill that void.

What about a pairing with Mark Ronson? I would have loved Lady T to do it if she was still alive.
