There's no need to be rude like that, he wasn't being rude. And you insulting his music tatse right? he obviously like's Janet & Aretha so that would in a way be insulting your taste. So chill out people like different kinds of music. No need for that negative attitude at all just because not everyone is MJ

Why do you people do that? Did I mention Michael Jackson? Is this discussion about Michael Jackson? Like what was the point in bringing him up? Like randomly bringing MJ up validates your arguement??I wasnt being rude nor was I being disrespectful. Obviously the discussion does not include those 5 I mentioned we are talking about the rest. If that poster thinks that that thats what he or she think doesnt mean everyone thinks that way. I am so tired of bullshit music getting credit and being in the mist of artists who put out classic music... so shit sue me.

No you where being rude calling RKJ taste gutter trash. Yes that is rude, and you & total Alissa and all those psycho MJ fans have attacked him & many other people for likeing modern artists like Rihanna. There is no need get over it, you don't know these people so let them like what they like. Because someday Rihanna may have more top 10 hits then Madonna and there's not a damn thing you or anyone else can do about it

Its not rude when its the truth and please dont call the kettle black. If I am a psycho your a lunatic because this discussion has ZERO to do with Michael Jackson but for some odd weird strange reason you felt the need to bring him up because as usual you purple hoppers do these random sermons on MJ when its not related to a arguement to fuck with the MJ fans on here but what you dont know is you can kiss my black ass like really dont give a shit. I dont care what music anyone listens to but its laughable to imply that a mediocre artist that makes crap music will be remembered years to come in the same way as Aretha Franklin will.

Like please give me a break.....

O trust me I am not consumed with keeping up with track record and hits because that means absolutely nothing today because its all based on popularity and marketing tactics but because since your the one pressed about Michael Jackson and the need to bring him up in every discussion non related to him to make a point to a MJ fan.. you really could care less about that fact...

If it be my guess your the one thats the MJ psycho keep bringing him up... like really... What was your point in bringing him up and ANOTHER poster? I know you dont honestly think MJ fans are the ONLY fans that have objective views on modern music. You Prince fans are the worse on here. EVERYONE on here does it...

Shhhhhhhh

Wow...

Ok seriously you need to calm down.

First of all I don't listen to horrible music. OK. just because you don't like it doesn't mean anything about it's quality.

Second of all popularity leads to longevity. You seem to hate almost everyone who is popular today, but pop music from this decade will endure, just like it does from every other decade.

Third of all "gutter music" REALLY? You are so rude.

Take a chill pill.

Hate is such a strong word. This is just music folks. If you like RiRi, Spears and Beyawnce so be it. Thats YOU.

I'll take my chances with Adele and Monae, they make MUCH better music.

But you know its a free country listen to what you want but if you say something ridiculous like implying their music will be held as classics similiar to the likes of Aretha Franklin, you will be corrected LOL

You know what, I listen to Adele and Janelle too, I've seen both in concerts. And you know what!? it's ok to like them, and like Rihanna too. And when you like someone I don't, I don't have to resort to condescending names for them. And I don't go on threads about your favorite artists and call you trash. And I don't feel the need to designate what will and won't be a classic.

It's ok too listen to music that was made purely for fun. You can look down on people who listen to that kind of music all you want, but guess what we're just gonna have fun while you sit around and complain.

No one is complaining its the truth. You only look at it as complaining because your fav artist is getting criticized.

I find it disrespectful to compare an artist like Beyonce or Rihanna to Aretha Franklin and imply their generic music will be remembered the same as Arethas years to come.... that is just insane.

People are free to express themselves and give opinion. Their would be no reason for you to criticize Adele or Monae because they dont sell sex, display their bodies, can sing and they make descent music what bad is their to say about that except for that music isnt your cup of tea? They are female singers about their talent and about being creative not chasing after accolades unlike their more popular peers.. thats not bashing thats the TRUTH

You should be open minded and not look at everything like someone is complaining or trying to bash an artist or you. Your very biased with arguements like this. Like do you seriously think their music will be remembered like Arethas will??? you crazy but once again if that is how YOU feel.. so be it, thats YOUR opinion.

Frank zappa never had a top 10 hit neither did diamanda galas or grace jones. Stevie had 33 top 10 hits, prince had many and so did kanye west. All different artists and I love them all the same, some had top 10 hits some didn't. There just numbers & records so in the end there is no reason to get so offended if an artist you hate gets many top 10 hits. I adore janelle as well, saw her live with stevie wonder. And she doesn't need top 10 hits

The irony is, Prince - of all people - was one of the first to prove to the world that tis & ass could be a huge commodity and have a career(I.E. Vanity) so the Rihannas of the world could have a career lol He sure as hell wasn't falling over himself to produce the second coming to Chaka Khan, I know that much.

What I'm trying to say is, I see both sides of your arguments and while YES the fact that the Rihannas could maintain a career while somebody like Tweet is scrubbing to get a deal nowadays says a lot, but then again, I've found out the hard way that most people are casual listeners and don't necessiraly have standards when it comes to what they play or feel strongly about what you consider to be classic, its unfair & completely false to think it reflects on their character negatively. It reminds me of snobby fashionatas who look down on other folks they deem to have a questionable fashion sense.

I spent most of my late teens and 20's telling off people for liking a few poppy acts, I'm done with it and tired of being an overt music snob. We can agree to disagree and sometimes I myself want to let my hair down and just let it go. Rihanna has a lot of good songs, and though she has sang well in the past, she doesn't show her voice, doesn't write her songs, doesn't dance well at all, and there is no freaking way she is of legendary status.

with the kids loving Rihanna these days and only 23 won't be too surprised if she might become solo artist with most #1's or surpassed the only four ladies for most top ten hits

If this list was ranked on vocals alone, it would look quite differently, I think. Fortunately or unfortunately, vocals alone do not determine a top ten hit. It is what it is and there's not a darn thin you can do about it. LOL.

Most people here praise singers who haven't shown up on the list so rather than feel sad about it, just be happy that someone's succeeding in one way and another is succeeding in another. I have no qualms with Riri being on that list even if I'm not familiar with ALL of her songs (I know some). Success is and has not always been determined by sales figures or chart stats and besides it ain't like this is the first era where the charts have been used to get someone to number-one lol

Some of these comments are very ridiculous and its exactly sad how people categorize other peoples opinion and perspective.

So now all of a sudden your a music snob if you dont like popular music??? Its not about popular or non popular.... I agree every music has its place. There is fun music, classic music, music that is mind stimulating, etc..

However, for example,

If someone is engaging in a serious music conversation with me and we are talking about pop artists that INCLUDES legendary artists or it is an open forum to give opinion... than I dont know about some of yall but I will express my opinion and each and every time it will be the same thing... those other pop artists will not get played in such and such years because they are hits of today not classics. I dont care about that dumb list because its so easy today to have a hit or to be number one because the standards have dropped. Which is why when someone forms an arguement that a stupid song will be remembered just because it went to number one today.. I think its funny lol That means NOTHING.

People are free to listen to watever they want but people should also be free to give their critique on something without being labeled a snob or a complainer because all I get from that is... people cant challege something because people have to give the same opinion or think like everyone else... thats fine some of yall can do that BUT I THINK and have MY own opinions and will always express that and have no problems with doing that unlike some of you folks here. Yall can go ahead and congradulate an artist that makes a easy non deserving predictable number one hit I WONT though LOL Why am I congradulating them? Its just pop music... Bugs bunny could make number one today and some of yall would start doing the cha cha slide like thats a huge feat.... lol

And what I find so funny is these same people whining about people giving their opinion on this list are some of the ones that bash some of the artists that exactly deserve to be on the list or other artists like MJ or lauryn hill but yet all the critique in here have been the on music catalogues and nothing else.... phooney hyprocrites which is why I have no problem with expressing my piece because any other time you same people will but get brain damage when your fav artist is being critiqued like you never do the same.

This is a music forum everyone is not going to agree likewise disagree....
