In recent interviews he has expressed concern over pretenders to the throne. Kelly is stiffing his own growth by competing with a young generation of male singers like Trey Songz, who actually don't have a tenth of Kelly's talent. Instead of becoming a R & B trailblazer, he's looking more like a man in the midst of a midlife crisis.

I shudder at the thought of him naming the concert tour R. Kelly's Black Satin Drawers. confused

Are people talking about both him and the album title now?

Yes, they are.

Nah, he loses if consumers ignore his Black Drawers project.

Being talked about no longer equals people buying your stuff. Remember we talked constantly of him spraying his hair golden around '08. The song he used to promote that picture bombed. lol

Nah. He doesn't, because people are now paying attention to him again. Right now, he'll get some digital sales of his old stuff because somebody is going, "Oh, yeah. I forgot to get that one." He'll get some physical catalogue sales for the same reason. And the people who have stuck with him will go out and buy the new album. Gold and platinum are good numbers for someone who has released as many albums as he has and puts them out now with very little label support. More to the point, though, people are talking about him. That's what he wants. Being talked about as an artist is always better than the alternative.

There paying attention to him because he went back to making grown folks music. Love Letter is a solid album. Nothing about it screms mainstream commercial radio music.

If he makes an album titled black thong or whatever trying to compete in a youth market... no it isnt going to do well.

Those are both assumptions.

And I'm not talking about Love Letter. I'm talking about what he just said on this radio show that has people all over the internet talking about him again, post surgery.

Regardless, whatever goodwill he fostered after surgery is about to go out the window once news of Black Drawers reaches active consumers. Untitled sucked so badly he couldn't give it away.

WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY\

R Sure does like to fuck his fans more then Prince & Axl Rose combined lol

He make's this fantastic album Love Letter, after making these shitty club songs for years and years. Now he is not only going back to that. But saying Trey songs is going to pretty much be the next huge thing in R&B. After just 2 years ago he was saying how much of a punk Trey was razz

Now he is going to make more club crap and it won't sell a damn thing lol Untitled was a piece of a dead mans turd.

R. Kelly need's to take me and his other fans to dinner and a movie, for as many times as he has fucked us with stupid shit and albums lol

Pistols sounded like "Fuck off," wheras The Clash sounded like "Fuck Off, but here's why.."- Thedigitialgardener

I like the title "Black Panties". It has great potential. Especially if there's a song actually called "Black Panties" where he's singing about how he'll slowly slipped them down or tear them off with his teeth (whatever the mood dictates). That could be very sensual. The rest of the album could serve as four play leading up to slipping the Black Panties down.......

Sounds like Grown Folks music to me.

After I thought the rap influences were gone and he was getting back to his core, this happens. Love Letter was the best album he made. He didn't care about the sex songs, just pure R&B. And now this. Why Kells. Why?
