Question Re: Pointer Sisters "Breakout" Reissue For all you Pointer Sisters Fans,
Now that the Pointer Sister's Deluxe edition of "Breakout" has been released, can someone tell me what the main difference is between the 1983 edition and the 1984 edition? I know one of the tracks from the '83 edition was replaced with "So Excited" on the '84 edition. But, other than that, is there any difference? Is the '83 edition mixed differently from the '84 edition? I'm going to order it but I just want to know so I won't waste my time listening to the same versions twice. I have the reissue and "Jump" and "Operator" are slightly different on the original release. The running order of the tracks is also somewhat different. "Nightline" was the track that was omitted. Although I love the reissue, I would have been just as happy with the 1984 version plus "Nightline" and the various 12" mixes on one cd. Just like the white winged dove...

The liner notes are overkill in this reissue. Its like three different sets of them. My eyes hurt after reading them. Nick Ashford was someone I greatly admired, had the honor of knowing, and was the real-life inspiration for Cowboy Curtis' hair. RIP Nick. - Pee Wee Herman
