Katy Perry Is Going For Six

You'd think after five consecutive No. 1 singles, achieving an historic tie with Michael Jackson for a Billboard chart record and winning big at last month's MTV VMAs, Katy Perry would be ready to finally let go of her 'Teenage Dream' and move on to planning for her next album.

Well, think again! Perry apparently plans to push out as many singles from her sophomore studio album as possible and has named 'The One That Got Away' as 'Teenage Dream''s sixth single.

"Used to steal your parents' liquor and climb to the roof/ Talk about our future like we had a clue/
Never planned that one day I'd be losing you/ In another life I would make you stay/ So I don't have to say/ You were the one that got away/ The one that got away," Katy sings in the spirit of her album title.

If 'The One That Got Away' performs like each of its 'Teenage Dream' single predecessors, the song is set to become the one that got Katy to make Billboard history, with the most No. 1 singles from a single album -- dethroning the King of Pop himself!

Do you think Katy can do it, or have you outgrown 'Teenage Dream'?

This one isn't gonna hit #1, she would have had a shot with Peacock or Hummingbird Heartbeat. But I think she is releasing this as a personal favorite.

All those no.1's from an album that no one's buying. That must suck.

I really dig that song too!

The only song I really dislike on her album is Pearl.

Why would any reasonable person think that? So far every single released from the album has hit number one. Of course she/her label are going to release a sixth single, they would be foolish not to. When you have lightning in a bottle you take advantage of it while you can.

This could easily go number 1, plus its made for a remix. Go Katy.

They might as well make videos for the whole thing and keep releasing singles if they're guaranteed hits. Why stop the cash flow?

In my opinion, she has already released the best songs as singles. She already had to add rappers to "E.T." and "Last Friday Nite" to get them to hit.

I hate that fake sax solo on Last Friday Nite. They should have added real sax to the single version instead of Missy Elliott.

How come only Gaga gets someone real (r.i.p. Clarence Clemons) to play sax?

I don't see this song being a hit. Mind you, I didn't think ET was a hit either. But then they went and added Kanye to it.

Still, I give her props for riding out the album for so long, there was enough good songs on it to do that. It's been over a year now since the album came out. That's pretty impressive.

In comparison, "Born This Way" seems like it was dead in the water within 3 months of release. Katy actually took time after her debut and made a solid follow-up. Right off the bat, I said that there were at least 6 great songs on "Teenage Dream". IMO, "Born This Way" only has 3 great songs.

Janet was sooooo close to having SIX #1 singles from Rhythm Nation 1814 album.

Miss You Much, Escapade, Black Cat & Love Will Never Do Without You all went #1 of course.

But, 'Come Back To Me', and 'Rhythm Nation' peaked at #2 (Thanks to Mariah Carey's Vision Of Love, and Phil Collins' Another Day In Paradise).

I wish she did get those 6, but 4 isn't so bad at all. She's still the only artist to have 7 top top 5 Billbaord Hot 100 singles from the same album. Hopefully Katie doesn't come for her record either, with her garbage ass music. biggrin
