A talk with Dr.Drew may do them some good. They need more than one hour with him.

It's a start and hopefuly they still continue therapy with Dr. Drew and his crew.

It's never too late as long as they are alive and want the help, it was too late for Bobby.

No it's never too late. My only concern is about them doing it on television. Being in the public eye has played a role in destroying that family enough already. They don't seem to handle being in the spotlight well at all and I'd hate to see them any of them go down any further. Especially while trying to get help. neutral

I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

I meant too late to stop them from appearing on a despicable reality show that makes money off people's pain and struggles with addiction. It is never too late to get help for addictions.

I have a problem with them appearing on Dr. Drew as well. Are they sincere about seeking help? Or, is this just another way of seeking publicity? sad

sad Sorry about that too. Especially, since I thought he was doing okay. Didn't know he was having any trouble. I just hope they are on the level, about seeking help. And, not just trying to seek publicity/attention.

Yeah, I don't care for his show either, but I hope someone posts a link to the show (I have to be at work and can't watch it). But you know, I really thought that James was doing better. I saw unsung not long ago, and it seemed like he was turning his life around. Sad how addictions can ruin a life.

I always thought he (and the rest of the family) were still struggling with their addictions even with the front some of them had on Unsung (particularly James, Randy and Bunny).

Well, yeah, maybe. But to see James today, compared to just one year ago, it's sad. He looks like he hasn't eaten in a long while. Really, it just makes you wanna give him a hug and tell him you love him.

I think Dr. Drew did a good job talking to them. He really wanted them to get

help. He wasn't just trying to get ratings and telling them next. arrow

I just don't understand how a mother can let their children stay in a house

That was a lot of food to buy and rent to pay, and a lot of children to be watching after all alone. Back in the day we were just not addressing abuse issues in the same manner we do as a society today. And Love and Sex (not the regular kind, but the kind that moves you from the bottom of your toes to the top of your head) are also big players. Most humans fear the hell out of change and hide from it. And as someone who has worked with children who have experienced extreme trauma from a parent, it can be shocking the level of torture a child can experience and still crave access to that parent on the hour. I don't know about Eterline's childhood, but she may well be an abused child grown old - making her a biological mother, but leaving her lacking in other areas of parental importance.

DID JAMES GO TO REHAB? That preview clip was tough to watch.

Didn't know he went to rehab. Was this recently/sometime in the past? Allsmutaside, you have a point about how things were handled in the past. Especially in the black community. People didn't admit there was a problem, let alone seek professional help, if any existed. Mainly, they worried about what others would think. Seeking help was seen(and in some ways still is)as a sign of weakness. But, another thing about their mother, was maybe her religious belief played a part too. She might have been taught that divorce was not an option. Or, that if her marriage ended, that she was a failure/she didn't want that. But, then again, she might have been abused herself, in someway, like you said.

He left shortly after he started. neutral

Bunny and Randy seem to take staying sober seriously. James is trying but is tougher on him. I can imagine how it is for Marty, El, Chico and the rest.

I know I hope and pray for the entire family. It was really heartbreaking watching that clip. Such a shame, their so talented and they were a good looking family as well sad to see what drugs have done on exception of EL who looks great for his age despite his addiction.

I still can't get over this show. I guess it hurts more because you can see

how much pain they are in and you hate to hear any of them dying from this

addiction, not just their family, but anyone dealing

with any type of addiction. I really wanted to cry when James broke down

and said something about Bobby and Dr.Drew stated

something like 'James, Bobby isn't here.'

also when James and Randy were hugging and crying

together when heading to the car.

My mother and I were calling in between commercials

telling our thoughts and then

I called her when the show ended she was crying/ She said "I felt like I was at a funeral"

"This is so sad."

I hope we will see big changes with this family.

The next time I see this family on any television programs ,I want to see

a healthier family, great smiles, tears of joy, lots of laughter, and them telling

us they are getting the group back together.

What I really want to hear them say: "We are drug-free and this time for good."

I think for their health they are really going to need to say goodbye to thoughts of the "group" and getting back together. Trying to recapture that experience, or the fall from the Grace of that existence, could pull on heart guilt strings and other emotional baggage - a precursor to relapsing. And wow, what year was their Unsung? They look decades older in this footage from Dr. Drew. It is heartbreaking. I don't pray much, but I will be praying for these guys in the coming days.
