Hate the album but, love the song. Best think that Lauren Hill has ever done.

This is a great song. I'm not sure I would say that the "Mary" album is great. I like a few of the trax, but that album didn't age well to me.

I recently pulled it out and couldn't make it through the album.

I think "Mary" is the BEST album from Lady Jane, better than "My Life" IMO. It has shown growth, maturity and vulnrability thats missing even from her latter albums.

I do too!! I think this album is where she got her grown woman on. From the album cover to the song choice.

Yes, I'm suprised by other posters who said they didn't like the album. I think "Mary" is her best album after "My Life" and "Share My World". It was a different, more mature album for her.

I agree that Mary is overrated. I like it, but I'll take My Life and What's the 411? over it for sure, probably even Share My World.

As for the song, I wasn't the biggest fan of it when it was released, but I learned to really enjoy it years later.

Some of it is timeless and some isn't

Though I know another song sampled I Can't Help It, this one sounds inspired by it too and is a timeless masterpiece. I didn't like it when it came out, but it grew on me over the years.

I liked that one also.

Wow I can't believe all the scorn Mary is getting. I think it would have to be my favorite album by Miss Blige as well as her best one. Not putting What's The 411?, My Life or Share My World under the bus, but damn...Blige was on some other stuff musically on Mary. Stuff we haven't heard from her since that period. This track is a classic! L-Boogie really worked her magic on that one.

major co-sign! I did the same thing over a long drive and was shocked by how poorly it has aged...I only got halfway through and changed to something else...

I love the song a lot now like I said. Once it grew on me, I appreciated how timeless and fresh the sound was. I think her musical peak was with Share My World and Mary, and after it, she was hit and miss though when she brought it, she was awesome

I agree.

The last album I fully enjoyed after Share My World was The Breakthrough.

The Breakthrough had some really good songs, very relatable!

I think it has stood up better than both Share My World and What's The 411? if you ask me. It's probably her most consistent, diverse and concise work. The value of the album hasn't changed from the first time I listened to it twelve years back.
