I've always like the 12" single version better than the album mix, and the remix is what they used to play on the radio where I lived. The vocals were different.

You can take a black guy to Nashville from right out of the cotton fields with bib overalls, and they will call him R&B. You can take a white guy in a pin-stripe suit who’s never seen a cotton field, and they will call him country. ~ O. B. McClinton

And the Cherelle original, which I think is better.

The 12" is the one I used to dance to...as well as Cherelle's version. Here's another Robert Palmer oldie I used to love from 1978. smile

Robert Palmer's version is inferior in every way imaginable. (No dancing gorilla in the music video is the nail in the coffin)

You're so glam, every time I see you I wanna slam!

music dancing jig My favorite Palmer song! I prefer his version over Cherrelle's.

I think Robert's, is far superior to Cherelle's version. To me it's funkier, than that "Poppy", than her version and the fact that it's being sung by a man gives it a sense of irony, kinda like Prince's, "If I were Your Girlfriend".....
