Ry Cooder - Pull Up Some Dust And Sit Down

[img:$uid]http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b59/jbodine/Covers%20II/cooder-pull-up-some-dust-and-sit-down.jpg[/img:$uid]

Inspired by a news headline about the Wall Street bailout, Ry Cooder began work on Pull Up Some Dust and Sit Down with the track “No Banker Left Behind,” an ode to the corrupt few spared from the financial crisis while most were left to fend for themselves. Uncut calls this "one of his best albums ever ... an impassioned portrait of 21st century America and its injustices" in which Cooder is "remade as a modern-day Woody Guthrie, fearless and funny, for like Guthrie he nails his targets with droll humour while empathising with society's underdogs." The BBC calls it "essential listening." The CD is out now; the vinyl is out September 13.

ry cooder is awesome. after watching the movie 'crossroads' with ralph macchio (back in 1986), i really got into cooder. that's also when i first heard of steve vai (who does not get enough recognition).

anyway, ry cooder is the man when it comes to guitar skills. i'm going to listen to 'pull up some dust'

again. prince.org is so great when it comes to people's imput re: musical info.

This album is full of unique and often humorous takes on present day situations.

Contemporary protest music done in Cooder's roots-based style.

Nice.

The times are ripe for this kind of social commentary. Maybe too ripe, because so few attempt it

VINYL AVAILABLE!

Ry Cooder's new album, Pull Up Some Dust and Sit Down, which was released late last month digitally and on CD, is out now as a double-vinyl set, which includes two audiophile-quality, 140-gram vinyl discs plus a CD of the album. Ireland's Evening Herald is the latest publication to give the album a perfect five stars, saying: "The headline news is that Ry Cooder has made yet another of his trademark, cornerstone collections, dragging in the wide span of his American music influences." Canada's Winnipeg Free Press offers a five-star review as well and says: "This one is a classic." "
