Still the same most of the time still? i mean i was watching these new videos for the hell of it with my room mate. Bitches, money, girls at a crib/club, drinks, random dancing, random rappers no one knows or gives a damn about. How many times can they use this concept?? it is so old

I mean seriously it's 2011 and this is the same sterotypical bull in videos. So for your video lovers if anyone has any underground or cool videos you like post them here

Most videos I watch don't have much of that, maybe you're looking in the wrong place!

Apparently a lot of people like these videos, or they wouldn't get made. It's like complaining about McDonald's or Starbucks. Also, I assume these are cheap to make. Since there's not a lot of video channels that play music videos, why would a record company waste a bunch of money filming fancy looking videos that no one will see. Like Prince does. Michael Jackson paid for his videos himself, CBS/Sony didn't, so that's why his tended to be more extravagant than average.

Bands don't need to rely on music video all that much, because they have the talk shows and festivals where they can appear in front of a lot of people.

Michael was also one of the first people to make money back on a music video by selling "Making Of Thriller". I know John Landis was under a lot of scrutiny at the time for "Twilight Zone". But the music video itself changed after that - directors started making videos, people out of film school were able to get some experience putting videos together, and the skateboard home videos of the 80s & 90s was how Spike Jonze got his start.

If the song is for the dance clubs, doesn't it make sense they'd make a video taking place in a club with girls all over the place?

I think the ones that make me laugh are the videos where the rapper or singer's working out.

But recent ones that I found amusing were the Beastie Boys video and the Foo Fighters tour promotion.
