You're the one who won't STFU. Someone said name a "Bad" Stevie Wonder song, and I did.
It's my opinion, loosen your bra, take the thong out of your ass and relax! [Edited 9/8/11 19:59pm] JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

I don't know anyone that would classify "Bad" as a "classic" album. When most people I know refer to "Bad," they say how much they love the videos, but you never hear anyone say the like the album. It's the total opposite for "Thriller" and "OTW." **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

I'm the one blowing up and embarrassing myself? You're the one who completely lost what little mind you have when I dared to mention Michael Jackson in a way that wasn't completely diefying him!
Not everyone worships the ground he Moonwalked on!
I know this is a message board and people can say what they want, but YOU'RE the one who went berserk when I said what I wanted.
So, you're either a hypocrite or you're not that bright. JERKIN' EVERYTHING IN SIGHT!!!!!

I actually shared the tape of this song at sixth grade. I got strange looks when my teacher hit play.

I like "Part Time" and I did love it initially until I discovered the guy riffing at the end of the chorus was Luther Vandross (and he wasn't credited or at least seen in the video). I was so duped he wasn't in it. I didn't get it until age 12 who it was.

I'm trying to remember whether Stevie or Greg Philinganes did the synth solo. Either way, this is one of my top 5 synth solos in an 80s song.

As someone said,"I Just Called To Say I Love You" isn't a terrible song,it's just the cheesy production. This song was originally written in 1976....if it had been recorded and released back then,I bet it would have sounded much better. We can blame it on 80s technology
I'm not too crazy about "Part-Time Lover".When it was released,I thought it was too trendy and lightweight for an artist like Stevie Wonder.
I know I'm gonna take some heat for saying this,but....I don't really like "Master Blaster (Jammin)"
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
I agree...this is such a generic,weak song.Their other duet "Get It",which appeared on Stevies's album,is much much better.

I also like these songs. I love the vocoder part in I Just Called To Say I Love You, and Part Time Lover is amazing. To me, the real problems came with Characters.

nooooo, not Just Good Friends!! You're evil!
It used to be my least favourite on Bad too when I first got it, but when it grew on me, I couldn't let it go, the key change man!

I didn't realize it was Luther until a few years after it had been released. I just never put it together that it was Luther. I had the cassette of the album and read the credits in 85, but just didn't realize it.
I think Luther did an interview where he discussed recording this with Stevie and actually sang it acapella. **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

It was probably Greg. Stevie is not listed as a musician on the album.

Ooohhh...I forgot about that one. You are SO RIGHT!
We had to endure listening to that song almost every day in the mid-80s because it was used in a commercial.
