I like "Part Time" and I did love it initially until I discovered the guy riffing at the end of the chorus was Luther Vandross (and he wasn't credited or at least seen in the video). I was so duped he wasn't in it. I didn't get it until age 12 who it was. lol I loved the live version of it from Stevie's DVD set though. nod

As someone said,"I Just Called To Say I Love You" isn't a terrible song,it's just the cheesy production. This song was originally written in 1976....if it had been recorded and released back then,I bet it would have sounded much better. We can blame it on 80s technology smile

I'm not too crazy about "Part-Time Lover".When it was released,I thought it was too trendy and lightweight for an artist like Stevie Wonder.

I know I'm gonna take some heat for saying this,but....I don't really like "Master Blaster (Jammin)" boxed lol

I agree...this is such a generic,weak song.Their other duet "Get It",which appeared on Stevies's album,is much much better.

I also like these songs. I love the vocoder part in I Just Called To Say I Love You, and Part Time Lover is amazing. To me, the real problems came with Characters.

I didn't realize it was Luther until a few years after it had been released. I just never put it together that it was Luther. I had the cassette of the album and read the credits in 85, but just didn't realize it.

I think Luther did an interview where he discussed recording this with Stevie and actually sang it acapella.

It was probably Greg. Stevie is not listed as a musician on the album.

We had to endure listening to that song almost every day in the mid-80s because it was used in a commercial.

Since when is Wiki a reliable source? lol I have the original record from 1987 in front of me and it says:

Vocal duet with Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder

Stevie Wonder: Synthesizer solo

Ollie E. Brown, Humberto Gatica, Bruce Swedien: Drums

Cornelius Mims: Drum programming

Michael Landau: Guitar

Kim Hutchcroft, Larry Williams: Saxophones

Gary Grant, Jerry Hey: Trumpets

Paulino da Costa: Percussion

Christopher Currell: Synclavier

Michael Boddicker, Rhett Lawrence, Greg Phillinganes, Larry Williams: Synthesizers

Rhythm, synthesizer, and vocal arrangements by Terry Britten, Graham Lyle, and Quincy Jones

Horn arrangement by Jerry Hey

You kidding?
I think a lot depends on where you live and traditions. Most people I know consider "Thriller," "Bad" and "Dangerous" - the best albums of Jackson. You will not hear from anyone that "Off the wall" - a classic or a great album. it`s absolutely not popular in Eastern Europe, even "HIStory" much more beloved here.
